Great Redclyf War
Tensions between the Norlandic and Redclyfian peoples had been high ever since the reign of Ragnvald I, and tensions reached a boiling point when the Redclyfians were accused of raiding and pillaging Halfling lands while the descendants were on the continent of Failor. Balon declared that the grievances made by the Redclyfians would not be tolerated, and with the help of the Brotherhood of the Flame (led by his companion and friend Eyvind Kvitravn II), issued a declaration of War upon the Redclyfian state. Balon was joined by a majority of the Norlandic population including the High Keeper Ellenore Eiriksson which gave the young Balon a boost in prestige among his Norlandic kinsfolk. The Norlandic forces were joined by almost every single nation and settlement on Failor which led to the creation of the Failorian Coalition. Despite this, the war was relatively low-scale. The Redclyfians resorted to guerrilla warfare as opposed to open battle with the Coalition due to their lesser numbers which frustrated the Coalition. As a result, Coalition forces led by Balon Eiriksson and Eyvind Kvitravn II stormed Redclyf and burnt the city to the ground. This sacking of Redclyf would bring a decisive end to the conflict as the Redclyfians were no longer capable of resisting the Coalition.
