The Third Coup of Sutica, also called the Alstreim Restoration, was a coup orchestrated by the combined forces of the House of Barclay, the House of Alstreim, and the Kingdom of Hyspia to install Georg Barclay, an in-law of the former King Corwin von Alstreim, on the throne of Sutica. The Coup resulted in the successful coronation of Georg Barclay and Johanna von Alstreim as King and Queen of Sutica in a co-monarchy bound by marriage, installing the House of Barclay as the new Royal Family of Sutica.

Prelude

Following the Second Coup of Sutica undertaken by Princess Gwynevere and the removal of Mika Uialben-Goldhand as Trade Monarch, multiple vassals of Sutica quickly became disillusioned with the Princess' style of ruling. The Kingdom of Hyspia, a primarily Canonist realm that disliked being under the rulership of non-Canonists, began to consider taking action against the new Princess. Following several raids committed against Sutica by the Silver State of Haelun'or and Principality of Elvenesse, as well as the failure of the Sutican government to properly handle the growing hostilities, Cesar II of Hyspia reached out to the House of Barclay and a plot was formed to overthrow the Trade Princess and install Georg Barclay as the new Trade King. Using his marriage to Johanna von Alstreim and his connections to the former King Corwin von Alstreim, Georg began to make preparations with the Hyspians for the Coup.

Georg began establishing connections with the Ferrymen and the Hounds of Don by signing mercenary contracts with both, securing their help in the Coup. He also successfully gained permission from the Kingdom of Haense to allow the House of Barclay to mobilize its family to assist him during the Coup, only adding to Georg's numbers. Concurrently, King Cesar of Hyspia had ordered Vicente Murietta to mobilize the Hyspian Nationalist Army and to bolster recruitment into the Army. Vicente was quickly able to organize and bolster the Hyspian numbers as well as supply and train the new recruits in the short timeframe he was given before the Coup.

The Coup

The forces of Georg Barclay and Cesar II mustered just beyond the walls of the Sutican Capital, and were able to enter due to Cesar's status as a vassal of Sutica. The Cerulean Army was unaware of the intentions of Georg's Army entering Sutica, and as such gave no opposition to their entry. Georg commanded his Army to form up before him as he stood upon a statue in the City Square and began to give a speech to both the soldiers and any citizens present. He spoke of the current administration's inaction during the raids on Sutica, and how during the time of King Corwin the Nation had been a respectable kingdom. Following his speech, the soldiers of his force, as well as many of the citizens present began to shout "Long live King Georg! Long live the King!"

Following Georg's speech, he commanded his forces to storm the Palace in the upper city and find Princess Gwynevere and any who remained loyal to her regime. The Army was able to break in with relative ease due to the help of members of the Hyspian Nationalist Army, some of whom had previously taken positions in the Cerulean Army prior to the coup and knew the layout of the Palace well. Once the Barclay forces were able to breach the Palace, they found it unguarded by any soldiers or loyalists. Wary of an ambush, Georg ordered that a perimeter around the Palace be established and that it was to be searched thoroughly before his coronation was to take place. After being absolutely certain that no loyalist forces remained, a coronation was held within the Palace throne room. This saw Georg and his wife Johanna von Alstreim crowned as the new rulers of Sutica, which was met by the applause of all present as well as the continued chants of "Long live King Georg! Long live Queen Johanna!"

Aftermath

Unsure of if the Cerulean Army still lay in wait for an ambush, Georg and Cesar ordered an organized withdrawal from the Sutican capital to the capital of Hyspia, the city of Osanora. There, Georg's army made camp and began to make preparations for a possible civil war against any forces loyal to the former regime. Georg and Cesar suspected that due to their failure to capture her, Gwynevere would attempt to rally the Cerulean Army to try and reject Georg's coronation and maintain power for herself. Regardless, the combined army began to make plans for their next move.
