This lore is now part of Transfiguration

A means of discovering more about an item, Voidal Feeling utilizes mana and the knowledge of the caster to acquire the knowledge a mage craves. A mage must understand how much active mana can seep within an object, forcing them to do multiple calculations and experiments to figure out how much mana can fit in certain sizes and shapes. Once one understands how much active mana can seep within an object, a mage can then feel it—sliding their mana within the body of the item.

Specifications

Novice

At a beginner level, a mage can acquire information on: Average temperature, what the material is made of, boiling and freezing points, states of its matter and how to get there.

Advanced

A more experienced mage can acquire far more information from an object. They've the capability to detect all basic information, and understanding of what each temperature stage does to an object with knowledge of another object; a mage can also understand how to make a fusion of the two, should it work (ex: iron and coal carbons makes steel). If the object is comprised of multiple materials, one can understand what the process is to make the object. Finally, you can feel a magical presence on an object, and with a little more time, the mage can understand the magical presence. Understanding the presence would work more-so with the arcane than any other deific or dark imbuement (Meaning you can only know what the dark/light imbuement does [albeit barely, think of “Detect magic item” from DnD], while with arcane-enchanting, you can acquire in-depth knowledge, although getting all the knowledge will take more time and likely require one to bridge the gaps checking the presence. Finding a magical presence ideally takes an additional emote, fully understanding will take one more).

How to Apply

Feeling would require one to be connected to the void to learn, and would require you to be taught by someone knowledgeable in Voidal Feeling if you've no magic, however if you have a magic, you are able to self-teach, but please talk to the lorekeeper (ArcanicFable) beforehand. This arcane magic does not take up a slot, as it is a Voidal Feat, but does require a Magic Application.

To understand, one must learn. Mages have a great understanding in their mana, from ripping elements from nothingness to bringing change upon the land. A new means of acquiring information through the use of arcane energies can be possible, afterall, the void is fickle and brimming with potential—and this potential to know, to understand, is known as Feeling.

What feeling is

A means of discovering more about an item, Voidal Feeling utilizes mana and the knowledge of the caster to acquire the knowledge a mage oh-so-craves. A mage must understand how much active mana can seep within an object, forcing them to do multiple calculations and experiments to figure out how much mana can fit in certain sizes and shapes. Once one understands how much active mana can seep within an object, a mage can then feel it—sliding their mana within the body of the item.

Sliding in one’s mana is not a forceful feat, rather, it is calm and without violent command. While it is possible to force the mana inside the desired object, it will tax more energy from the caster as they frantically fight the outer shell of the object—the bastion to protect the knowledge within. The most effective way is the calmer manner, having one’s active mana gently dance about the surface as it probes for chinks in the outer-shell of the object, and from there, the mana can pour inside, surely filling the insides of the object, given time. Once the mana is within the object, the mage will begin to understand as their mana grazes the passive, slowly but surely being able to scrape the information.

Something of note, the larger an object, the more mana and attempts will be required to get more information, rather than scraps.

Basic:

Novice mages are required to learn from someone who knows how to ‘Feel’ or self teach. Allows you to acquire basic information of the object at hand. From there, it is up to the mage to gather the information.

Basic Info = Average temperature, what the material is made of, boiling and freezing points, states of its matter and how to get there.

Advanced:

The student (again, needs to be taught/self taught if you're a mage who has a magic) can acquire a greater understanding of the object, however this takes more time. Learned at end novice.

Greater info = All basic information, understanding of what each temperature stage does to an object, with knowledge of another object, a mage can understand how to make a fusion of the two, should it work (ex: iron and coal carbons makes steel).

((Example emote of Feeling. Keep in mind, this is with a medium sized/smaller object, larger ones will take much more time.))

Basic feeling:

Avenel curls in his fingers, hands upon an odd slab—of a metal unknown.

Arcane fumes leak from his hand, dancing upon the surface of the metal slab.

Tightening his hold, the fumes seep inside, after the first fumes enter, more fall in the object.

Twitching, he murmurs under his breath, mayhaps the basics of the object.

The mana draws away before it could do any further.

Advanced:

Avenel curls in his fingers, hands upon an odd slab—of a metal unknown.

Arcane fumes leak from his hand, dancing upon the surface of the metal slab.

Tightening his hold, the fumes seep inside, after the first fumes enter, more fall in the object.

His brow furrow, tightening his digits as the energy swarms about the object, pushing itself within as its hue brightens.

The energy continues to swarm about the object, pulling itself in and withdrawing as it scans and collects.

It continues to collect, drawing away the knowledge as it moves away from the material.

((Additional 1 for basic magical scan/2 for advanced magic scan (only for arcane)

Learning

Feeling would require one to be connected to the void to learn, and would require you to be taught by someone knowledgeable in Voidal Feeling if you've no magic, however if you have a magic, you are able to self-teach, but please talk to me first beforehand. This arcane magic not take up a slot, but will require an MA, because of this—I propose a new sect of voidal magics—Arcane feats. Much like Artificary, these magics do not take up slots, currently, the two types of feats (although this could changed) Will be (should this lore get passed)

Voidal Displacement Voidal Feeling

Pros/Cons

Pro:

provides a new way of researching an item (which hardly anyone RPs anyway)

Cons:

Takes time.

Has little to no combat value.

Red-lines

Can't feel living organic.

Unable to feel actual magic, however magical items are fair game.

Cannot learn a magic from researching any object using this magic, unless a MAT member or teacher of the magic allows you to.
