Vexalia Artoxia, also known as Katrina Atmorice, is a pioneering figure fronting the equality of elves within the Empire of Man, and later, the Holy Orenian Empire. Originating from the Princedom of Fenn, the woman of snow-elven blood rose to prominence as the first ever female elven (and snow elven) member of the Privy Council, as the second Minister of Magical Affairs, following the resignation of her predecessor, Vahyru Daluon. Her other claims to fame are her high ranking judiciary and stewardship roles within the Princedom of Fenn, and being one of the few non-Mali'aheral to achieve citizenship in the Silver State of Haelun’or. She currently serves as Imperial Sorceress to Peter III, Holy Orenian Emperor.

Early life

Vexalia Artoxia was born to the head of the Atmorice Bloodline, Tinuviel Atmorice and her husband, Lucion Drakon, who later abandoned Tinuviel and Fenn altogether for reasons unknown in the year 1559. Very little time was spent with her family, who secretly lived in fear of another snow elf genocide. Little is known about Vexalia’s birth or infancy overall in Fenn, as at the age of 2 and a half, the young mali’fenn was snatched by mercenaries who were paid by a family, unable to conceive a child, to bring them an ‘aheral infant who could pose as their own.

The elfess grew up among the strict customs of ‘aheral, taking on the name Auriella Druvaine, as given by her adoptive parents, Lornaira and Ceridor Druvaine. As their only child, the lass was doted on in between relentless tutoring in the hopes she’d one day make it onto the silver council and do her family proud. During her earlier years, she was indistinguishable from any other ‘aheral, though as she aged, her mali’fenn features became more prominent; a softer visage, more muscular body build and slightly shorter ears started to arouse suspicion within the Druvaine family, and indeed the high elves they were surrounded by.

It was only when a chance discovery was made that Vexalia’s ‘heritage’ was discovered. The woman’s adoptive yet presumed true mother, Tinuviel, even twenty-six years later into her life, had continued to make pleas to other nations to search for her child, offering up an appearance of the infant, and what she assumed she’d look like as an adult, as well as the date she was born and went missing. Lo and behold, an adult Vexalia exactly fit those characteristics, stark white hair, and deep amethyst eyes. Despite the love Lornaira and Ceridor had shown her, they were disgusted, calling her an impure abomination. Instead of handing her over to be slaughtered, however, they packed her bags with meager supplies and sent her out on her own.

Elven Adolescence

Following her impromptu exile, Vexalia was left more or less penniless, though her inherent martial prowess as well as her lack of morals at her young age lead her to join a morally grey mercenary group, who’s leader appeared to take a great liking to the now thirty year-old Vexalia. Now going by the name Katrina, she ran with these mercenaries, more often than not picking the locks to chests and homes of their targets to loot their homes before completing the job.

Adulthood

Vexalia split off from her group at the age of eighty five, having been advising the newly elected leader. She had decided that she wished to pursue her heritage. Having landed in Atlas from Aeldin, the mali found herself resorting to bard work, with which she was skilled due to her early-age tuition. It took her an additional forty years after debating to return to Fenn to actually return to her roots. Upon arriving in Fenn, she was greeted by Sulien Annungilben and Grand Prince Aelthir Tundrak II, who escorted her to her bloodline to reveal her as the only daughter of the Grand Priestess, Tinuviel Atmorice. Both pairs were delighted to be reunited, and it took a matter of days for their bond to be fully restored.

Vexalia soon joined the snow elven guard, the Ivae’fenn, as an initiate, but due to their heavy fighting style over her own preferred light combat, she didn’t get past the rank of initiate. The woman had a friendly rivalry with another Ivae’fenn member, Ithilion Valar (Who later ascended to the patriarchy of the esteemed Drakon bloodline.). The pair often made quips and got into arguments, which once resulted in extensive lashings for both of them. Ithilion later entered a courtship with her own mother, much to her own dismay.

The elfess entered an intense courtship with the Grand Prince, Aelthir Tundrak II, which she was excited to hear might have ended in marriage. The pair were borderline inseparable for nigh on two decades.

This continued for an array of time, until a younger elfess by the name of Almithara Annungilben weaved her way between the lovers, and ultimately tore them apart. The heartbroken Katrina declined an opportunity to lead her bloodline out of love for the Monarch. She’d succumb to a frenzied state as the relationship between Aelthir and the Annungilben unfurled, leading to the hostility of Fennic denizens.

It was only from the swift actions of her beloved uncle, Jakkir, that she survived. Vexalia was left bed-ridden for weeks thereafter, and by the time she was strong enough to leave her home, she was left bitter by the slander spread by her once-friends, and her cousin’s ruinous behaviour.

Vexalia had served dutifully as a judiciar, steward and even a priestess, though her harsh words towards those that she believed to have betrayed her forced Aelthir’s hand. She was banished from Fenn, stripped of her titles and cast out into the world. Now, the elf was at her lowest. Fuelled only by her insatiable lust for revenge. Rallying a group of like-minded individuals, she coordinated attacks against Fenn, often with devastating results for either party. Not all attacks were lethal, however, such an impact was made on the Fennic populace, that she was the prime suspect for any attack on the snow elven capital. Eventually, Vex grew bored of hiding her identity, making it obvious to Fenn that it was truly Katrina behind the attacks. However hard the snow elves of Fenn might’ve tried to catch her, they never succeeded, even when they were bold enough to try.

Post-Banishment

Katrina was left more or less to her own devices, though her banishment left her bitter and vengeful, yet also aware of her newfound freedom. It was at this stage where she started pursuing the arcane arts. She had a home in Belvitz where she posed as a sour-talking medic for many years. She was eventually found by Auriel and offered a place in Gladewynn, which she graciously accepted. Auriel and Vexalia grew close, though he was upset by her name, which she gave to herself purely because she annoyed those around her. The name Vexalia was thusly developed. It wasn’t long before the pair eloped privately, followed closely by the birth of their first and only children, Vyrthur and Estrael.

Vexalia, before this, had established a firm friendship with the Imperial martial at the time, Brand Von Denhardt, following Vex, whilst associated with Fenn, walking into Imperial territory to collect the remains of a fallen comrade, the Kha arcanist, Tepah. Due to the pair’s friendship, Vexalia was first allowed to establish a camp outside of the city, before being granted a small basement apartment within the city of Carolustadt. Finding her true calling at this time, Vexalia, now a seasoned mage, joined the newly founded Ministry of Magic, under Ocean Druid Vahyru Daluon. Vahy’s tenure was short, and Vex’s friendship with the crown prince earned her the position on the privy council as Minister of Magical affairs, making her the first snow elf in the history of any rendition of a human Empire to ascend to a leadership role.

Vexalia served dutifully, enforcing the Lex Arcana’s laws, and improving living standards for lawfully approved mages within Renatus, and the kingdoms under it. Despite this, she was also responsible for the death of many dark mages. The elfess’s means were questionable, and she was put on trial twice, yet acquitted each time with the accuser receiving punishment instead.

Lady Drakon successfully integrated with the Silver State of Haelun’or, following her aiding in the release of a mali’thill from Belvitz. Her entrance into Haelun’or was first met with a level of controversy, but following the befriending of the Maheral Dimaethor Visaj, Vexalia was eventually permitted residence within Haelun’or. Her efforts did not cease once she had done so, however- she worked tirelessly to uphold and build relations between those within Imperial lands, solidifying a strong alliance that would surely last for decades to come.

Vexalia’s tenure as the Minister of Magic was a long and appreciated one- the ‘fenn banished many dark magi and executed more. Within parliament, she was rather forthcoming with her stances. The ‘fenn sided with the Imperial Preservation Party for several seasons, and offered countless amounts of information when tensions with the princedom of Fenn rose.

During the transition from Atlas to Arcas, she stayed at the back of the mass of those fleeing, ensuring as many successfully made it to Arcas as possible.

The War of Two Emperors

The Drakon remained loyally sided with Emperor Godfrey when Haense broke away from the Empire, accompanied with Curon, Adria and Fenn. The elf risked her life scouting out countless areas and gathering battle information from the enemy nation. During attacks, she was one of the leads in the evacuation process of the women and children within Renatus, whilst fighting off any attackers that pursued them. During this, the elfess was hunted relentlessly by the Fennic leadership once more, though once again escaped unharmed.

Vexalia fought during every battle, providing what support she could as a medic and battlemage, aiding in the successful defense of Helena when Haense sieged, healing those injured and helping deflect incoming arrows with her arcane prowess. Thereafter, she aided dutifully during the counter attacks on Haense and Adria, helping secure Godfrey’s soldiers yet another victory over Joseph, known as the Pretender.

After this war, Vexalia craved peace, moving to Haelun’or where she was offered a series of trials to become pure, which she politely declined as to do so, she’d have to divorce her husband and marry a mali’thill.

It was at this time, however, that Auriel went missing, plunging the elfess into a pit of despair, yet she remained loyal, even when word came that Fennic soldiers had executed him, by burning him alive. This tore her apart, forcing her into hiding for several years, until she regained the strength to integrate into public settings once again.

Banishment from Haelun’or

Vexalia spent many years in Haelun’or after resigning from her post and the dissolved Ministry of Magical Affairs. She tried to follow the path to purity but was ultimately casted out of Haelunor for engaging in an impure relationship with a high elf following the annulment of her marriage with Auriel. The woman was hunted by Haelun’or but found shelter in the empire, where she served dutifully as a medic. She captured the attention of Peter III, Holy Orenian Emperor, who recognized her arcane prowess and promoted her swiftly to Imperial Sorceress and Court Mage.
