Saint Thomas of Gaekrin, known in life as Thomas Chivay (Common: Thomas Chivay; High Imperial: Thomas Civii) (5th of Malin's Welcome, 1342 – 12th of Sun's Smile, 1420) called the Butcher, was the Crown Prince of Kaedrin and Master and Commander in the Order of the White Rose. Known chiefly for his infamous temper and a fierce proponent of Human Supremacy, Thomas is regarded as one of the most influential leaders of the First Empire, acting as the Grand Marshal under Godfrey I and Horen I and achieving victory in every major recorded battle. Thomas died on the Kaedreni flagship Henselt's Beard during the Great Exodus. He was later canonized as a Saint by the Church at the decision of High Pontiff Lucien II.

Thomas accumulated a number of titles throughout his life, recorded here:

Crown Prince of Kaedrin; Duke of Korath; Count of Cintran; Marquis of Ardban; Baron of Rivia; Grand Marshal of the First Empire; Holy Knight of the Order of the Red Dragon; Master and Commander of the Order of the White Rose.

Biography

Thomas Chivay, born in the city of Rivia in the far off continent of Aeldin, had fled to Asulon after the Rivian Massacre with his brother, Peter. He first served under House Silverblade as Quartermaster, and later found himself (after nearly a decade of obscure and unexplained personal exploring) culminating with Velwyn Ashford, Baldir Toov and his brother to form the Order of the White Rose, acting as its Master and Commander. The Order would produce a great deal of infamy and renown through its existence, with Thomas at the helm of the more particularly brutal episodes, one of such being the Crestfall Massacre. Cleansing the city of heretics and degenerates, Thomas would adopt the moniker of the Butcher; and would carry this dread reputation to the Elves of Malinor in later years. He would be granted the position of Grand Marshal of Oren for his exceptional military mind, and it was Thomas who planned and executed the invasion of Malinor. Known for his extreme hatred of elves and other nonhumans, Thomas found himself questioning church doctrine, and with the aid of Lucien (Velwyn) Ashford, the scriptures of the Exalted Saint Owyn were shown to him; and it is Thomas’ intensive study and later writings that would establish him as the Father of Owynism. After the creation of the Kingdom of Kaedrin, Thomas served as its Lord Steward, working closely with Hadrien de Sarkozy (Saint Adrian) to establish themselves on the newly conquered frontier and develop a true Kaedreni identity. Yet despite a lionhearted life, Thomas was cursed with gout as he entered his later years. Unable to fight alongside the Order, Thomas became especially bitter and lived his last few years in frustration and contempt. He would join Emperor Horen V in the Exodus, but would die of his ailment on the ships.
