The Hymn of the Cross

Stand up, stand up for Honra! ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His mighty banner, it must not suffer loss:
From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Fryst is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Rohkeus! The trumpet call obey:
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day;
Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Eldi! Stand in His strength alone,
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own;
Put on the gospel armor, and watching unto prayer,
Where calls the voice of duty, be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Krenari! the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song;
To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.

Chapter I: Genesis

Before Asulon was brought into existence from the void, Deus, was in the middle of the world. When the Niflheim, Asulon, Lighthalzen was one. He slept in this shell called the cosmic egg .

After thousands of years, Deus awoke, and broke free. Lighthalzen, Asulon, Niflheim was separated and broke apart. Deus saw that the 3 realms was going to join back as one, so Deus stood up on Asulon, and held Lighthalzen on his shoulders and pushed Niflheim beneath Asulon.

After many aeons, Lighthalzen formed solidly above the skies, and Niflheim was firmly embedded below the earth of Asulon. Deus let out a breathe, and said “I am done”. Deus fell over and died on the plane of Asulon. When Deus died, his body became part of the world. His body became the mountains, his sweat became the water, his hair became the forest and the trees, his eyes became the sun and moon, his heart the riches of the earth, his breathe the icy winds, his blood the snow and ice, his limbs the four corners of Asulon.

Chapter II: Toinen

Many millenniums later, the god Honra came into existance.

There was no life on Asulon, and he thought it was very lonely. So one day he flew to a stream, and saw his reflection in the water. So he thought “Why not make people in my likeness?”.

He gathered a bunch of ice, and made a human figure from it with a chisel and hammer. After that he made many more, and these would go forth and populate Asulon. These perfect figurines carved personally by Honra would be known as the Velsigne, the First Born.

But making each figurine from ice was time consuming, so he took his mace, Machen, and smashed a giant ice glacier. Each shard formed a human, but they were less perfect than the ones made by hand. Artisans pray Honra, hoping their creations will turn out perfect as Honra made the humans perfect.

One day, the sky rained giant hail stones, killing the humans. Honra saw this and said “They are my creations, I need to protect and preserve them”. He ventured South, to the tallest mountains. And there he waited. It was dark when he awoke, but it was not the beaming moon or the piercing wind that disturbed his slumber. It was the uncanny roar of a giant creature, roaring into the night…..beckoning him. It was a Dragon. 100 times bigger than Honra, a Deity, it had scales of bright as mirrors, as hard as obsidian. It had giant horns, at the ears and nose. It had 2 wings, used to fly and swipe people foolish enough to come close. Honra heaved Machen, and did a blood-curdling roar in return, challenging it. And so they fought. Through mace, horn, blood and hell.

The fought. For 6 full moons they fought, until at last slaughter in his eyes and glory in his veins. He smote his enemy upon the heart. Victory was his. Honra slayed the dragon, a mythical beast full of power. Then he took the dragon scales, and plugged the holes in the sky, saving the human race. That is why there are so many bright stars in the sky, they represent the holes that Honra plugged in with the shiny dragon scales.

Chapter III: Segur

When the humans settled by the river banks, they always had a stomach ache because they were eating raw meat. Krenari, the most beautiful women in the village, saw this and was concerned. So she decided to accompany the hunters when they went hunting for food.

Suddenly the sky grew dark, and lightning striked the forest. There was a huge forest fire, and the hunters brought Krenari to a cave above the forest. When they got down, they noticed that a lamb had been killed by the fire. They smelled a delicious smell, and Krenari decided to take a bite. It was delicious, and it did not give the hunters a stomach ache. So she smashed two rocks together, and created sparks for the flames. The Warlord Kyre saw her beauty and intelligence, so he took her as his mate. Krenari found out certain plants can be cultivated into food, such as cereal, wheat, and barley. She thought all the villagers how plant and harvest by inventing the hoe and sickle. The shortage of food was averted, and the people thanked Krenari for her discovery of farming.

Krenari’s tribe grew prosperous and fat, and the other tribes were jealous of them. So they decided to kidnap Krenari, and forced her to marry the invading warlord, and teach them the trick of making fire and defeating her tribesmen. For 5 days she was tortured brutally, but she would not betray her tribe and her mate by telling their secrets to these invaders. Honra saw her loyalty and devotion in her, so when Krenari died on the 6th day, Honra invited her to be his mate in the Halls of Lighthalzen.

Chapter IV: Kriger

Rohkeus was born in a ice cavern, surrounded by a natural mountain terrain belonging to the tribe Subudai. Since young he has trained in the arts of combat and hunting. He stands 8 foot tall, and is very muscular. He once slew a sea monster by himself in a small little boat with his trusty stone sword Felodoz.

One day, a herd of woolly mammoths came and terrorized his tribesmen. So Rohkeus, with a slingshot in his hand and Felodoz in another, went to the Wolfedge plains, and made a pact with the wolves who also suffers from the mammoth attack. Together the pack leader Lupa and Rohkeus went to the nest of the mammoths and engaged in battle with them.

For 4 days and night they fought the mammoth to extermination, but his tribesmen assumed Rohkeus died in the process. But Rohkeus came back on the 5th, heaving a giant mammoth skull placed it in the middle of the village. The tribesmen hailed Rohkeus as a hero for saving the tribe, and was canonised by Honra to take his place at the seat of Lighthalzen.

Chapter V: Mort

Fagari, the Keeper of Niflheim, the River of the Fallen. When Honra’s creation, the Velsigne’s mortal life has expired, he poured all his grief into a single teardrop, and let it splash onto the ground. That single teardrop formed Fagari, Keeper of the Damned.

Fagari consoled Honra, and told him that he can ascend his beloved creations to Lighthalzen if they manage to pass the Trials of the Maker in Niflheim. Every soul who has passed will wait by the the River of Caeu, and Fagari will meet them. To allow only the strongest, smartest, and bravest to ascend into Lighthalzen, Fagari will attempt to beat each soul in their strongest trait they have aquired in their mortal life.

Those who beat Fagari will be allowed to cross the Bridge of Benir. Those who could not defeat Fagari will be sent to walk along the Riverbanks of Caeu, until they reach the Wheel of Rebirth. But those who commit evil and atrocities for no rhyme or reason will be sentenced to swim in the River of Caeu, where all regrets, pain, and disappointment of each soul who could not beat Fagari will torment them for all of eternity until Ragnarok. Her companion is Ananta, the Endless.

Chapter VI: Deber

Eldi was a renowned fighter and champion of his town located between the icy rivers and the Glassmere forest, called Ashtan. He served as a vanguard general in the army, winning the Ashtan many victories that brought them much glory. However the city of Cyrene saw the lush plains of Wolf Edge that bordered Ashtan, and decided it would make a good target for conquest. The general of Ashtan was leading his troops to fend off some savage tribes, when he got a runner from Ashtan, saying the city has fallen. Eldi cried in grief, as he had a wife called Lilia, whom he loved dearly, was within Ashtan’s walls. The runner also said that if Eldi choose to fight for Ashtan and attempt to retake the city, they would execute his wife. The general saw his distress, and consoled him, saying he would send a assassin into the city to rescue Lilia while they marched back to take back their city. When the army reached the walls of Ashtan, the commander of Cyrene stood upon its walls, and shouted “Eldi! Lay down y our arms, or your dear wife Lilia will be thrown from this very wall!” The general and Eldi was shocked and confused, but the commander of Cyrene continued “And if you even think you can save her, you might end up like that assassin you sent to ‘save’ her!” Saying that, the commander tossed the severed head of the assassin towards Eldi. Eldi was close to laying down his arms, but it was when the people of Ashtan heard the Eldi and the army has arrived to save them, and began to chant his name.

“ELDI! ELDI! ELDI! ELDI!”

The general placed a hand on Eldi’s shoulders, and said “Look Eldi, the people of Ashtan depend on you to free them. It is your duty to serve Ashtan and defend her, no matter the cost.” Eldi gazed upon the walls, and saw Lilia smilling at him sadly at him, but nodding her head. Eldi understood. He raised his two handed zweihander and shouted to the invaders “I will free Ashtan and its people from you Cyrene louts!”. The commander nodded and pushed Lilia down the wall. Lilia did not survive the drop, and was splattered on the ground like bug. Eldi roared, a roar so powerful it shook the mountains and striked terror in the Cyrene ranks. He barged into the city and like a berserker, slew over 200 men guarding the walls. The Ashtan army easily reoccupied Ashtan.

When the battle was over, the people of Ashtan made a pyre, and burned the corpse of Lilia. Eldi was overcame with grief, and threw his body into the pyre. The people tried to save him, but the General stopped them and said “He did what he was asked to do, he served Ashtan honourably and should be allowed to be reunited with the women he loved as much as life itself.”

The people watched in awe as the pyre burned golden flames, and saw Eldi rise to the skies with Lilia in hand, both heading towards Lighthalzen to join Honra in his hall.
