Sven Eiriksson Ruric was selected as King by Kingsmoot after the abdication of his father, Eirik Thorsson Ruric, in 1551. He was succeeded by his brother Hakon Eiriksson Ruric after the Sack of Seahelm. Earlier in life, during his father's reign, Sven pursued the life of a Bard, and spread word across Norland of the virtues of the arts, leading to further growth in his own rule. Late in his life, Sven was declared a Paragon of the Red Faith, specifically in relation to the arts, music, and celebrations.

History

In 1556, Sven was declared to be in rebellion by his overlord, Emperor John II of Oren, who believed that Sven was planning to use his massive levvy of Nortruppen soldiers to stage a coup.

The end of Sven's reign was marked by the Sack of Seahelm, an event which culminated in the near destruction of the Kingdom of Norland. Sven then abdicated from the title of 'King of Norlanders' in favour of his older brother Hakon Eiriksson Ruric, who had recently recovered from his injury.

Sven would live out a long and eventful life of art and revelry for decades, but was ultimately killed in vjorhelm when a drake attacked the city, grabbing an aged and senile Sven, ripping him in half.

Appearance

Sven would typically wear the common armor of the Norlandic Army, forgoing any typical clothing that would denote his status as King of Norland to reinforce the idea that he was just a man like all those who served under his command, and that none were more equal or superior because of rank. Early into Sven's reign he would be struck by an Orenian assassins blade, causing him to become blinded in his right eye, from then on, Sven would be seen wearing a simple black eye patch. Sven typically wore his hear in a short mohawk, a traditional Norlandic warriors style.

Mentality

Sven was conisdered by most to be a jovial man, who saw to inspire joy and beauty in life with art and song. Sven would often throw large festivals for the people of Norland which would last for days. Later in Svens life, Sven grew to become more and more senile, and required the assistance of a number of carers, of which he took great joy in evading to get into precarious and dangerous situations.

Family

Sven was raised mostly by his Father Eirik Thorsson Ruric, King of Norland, who instilled a spirit of hard work and patriotism into the would-be king at a young age, and in turn, Sven would convince his father to institute greater interest in the arts within the Norlandic realm. Sven admired his brother Hakon as a great warrior, and aspired to be as great a leader as Hakon, who in his youth lead the Ashguard of Norland before he became bedridden with illness. Sven's son, Thomas Eiriksson Ruric, was raised to be a commander of the Nortruppen and a great diplomat for the Norlandic realm, and after the fall of Seahelm, became a lord of the Riverlands within the Principality of the Dreadlands.

Legacy

Most importantly, Sven is remembered as a Paragon of the Red Faith. Secondarily, he is recalled for his deeds as a Bard in life, both in terms of his skill and his appetite for food, drink, and women. Additionally, Sven is remembered as one of the earliest Kings of Norland, The Norlandic holiday Svensday, being named after him. During svensday the people of Norland come together and celebrate as hard as they can, often destroying parts of the city and a number of deaths will occur, Svensdays generally will be considered quite dull without one burned building or party related death.
