Soul puppetry is a type of magic long since heard of, hailing back to a tribe of Humans in Asulon. This tribe, of which the name has long since been forgotten, practiced in the dark arts of, of course, soul puppetry. Anyone who would even survive the tribe’s dark magic told stories to everyone about them. How they were tortured by someone simply poking a puppet, how they felt like they were out of control over their body. It was terrifying.

The magic itself relies on using someone’s soul and linking it to a puppet. The puppet, often looking like the person who they are linked to, can then be altered, and in turn, alters the person which the puppet is linked to. This allows for a soul puppeteer to hurt someone from a distance without the person even knowing what is happening. However, they cannot kill someone by, for example, cutting off the puppet’s head. This will break the link between the soul of the person and the puppet.

Other things that Soul Puppeteers are able to do is ‘alter’ someone’s soul. With this, a user practicing this magic is able to lay curses on someone to weaken them. Keep in mind that they can NOT use the magic on things other than puppets.

Puppets

Puppets are the thing that allows the magic to be used. Without one, someone can not use the magic due to them needing to link the soul to the puppet. Puppets are made from special materials. Someone can not willy-nilly pick up a piece of dirt and make it a puppet. Most puppets are made from rotten pieces of pine tree, whilst other, more powerful puppets, can be made from other materials. The stronger the material, however, the more experienced the magic user must be.

The puppet must also resemble the person for it to work. For example, if you were to try and link a Kharajyr’s soul to a puppet resembling a Human, it would not work. You would need to add a tail and snout to the puppet for it to work. Orc puppets would need to be bigger, et cetera.

To link the puppet with the soul of a certain person, you'd need blood, fresh and clean blood. When you get the blood, carve out the eyes of the puppet and fill it with the blood, then seal it off. Sprankle it with a bit of magic and you got yourself a fresh, working puppet á la soul.

Every tier allows for a new material for a puppet, which in turn, allows for stronger curses. Do note however, that the puppet wouldn’t work forever. It depends, just as with the curses, on the tiers of the magic. Thus, the higher the tier, the longer the link can stay.

Spells | Curses

Note that these curses are not the only things you /can/ do. You can do various things with the curses, as long as they are similar to the guidelines given. For example. Tier one allows for curses that inflict weakness or disorientation. Tier two allows for curses that inflict mental misconceptions and feelings. Tier three allows for curses that inflict physical pain and damage. Tier four allows for curses that are fatal and supernatural. Tier five allows for curses that contain magical effects.

Tier 1

Headache/Nausea - The victim will feel exhaustion and blood rushing to their heads, experiencing dizziness and the need to rest.

Stiffness - The victim’s joints would feel swollen, as if they had trouble moving them.

Tier 2

Paralyze - The victim is paralyzed for a few minutes.

Paranoia - The victim will feel extremely paranoid for a while, wanting to get out of where he or she currently is.

Depression - The victim will feel only sadness throughout his entire body, lowering his self esteem.

Blindness/Deafness/Dumbness/Numbness - The victim will be unable to react to their senses, depending on which the mage cursed.

Horror - The feeling that the victim is in dire danger and is struck with pure terror.

Tier 3

Suffocation - The victim will feel like he is getting no air, whilst he actually is.

Burn - The victim will feel like he is getting burned.

Bleeding - Simply enough, inflicting wounds upon the puppet that then replicate upon the victim.

Breaking of bones - To feel like the victims skeletal structure is snapping like a twig before him.

Tier 4

Visions - The magic user can make the victim see visions. Do note that the user cannot control what the victim sees like Illusion. They can only pick a generic group, like ‘scary’, which will make the victim see scary things. These hallucinations can even inflict pain upon the caster. There is a very minor chance that the victim will see his or her greatest nightmare.

Ghost - The feeling that the victim has passed on from life but has not reached the afterlife and is trapped in limbo as a ghost, only to wander the world.

Death - Quite simply, the victim dies. (Note: OOC consent required)

Feigned death - The feeling that the victim is actually dead, driving him further to insanity as he believes he is in the afterlife, when he is actually still alive.

Unnatural biology - The victim has the feeling that parts of his body are missing, and when he checks, he sees that they are not there, despite them him actually being intact. This could drive someone insane when they see that their torso or their arms are gone.

Tier 5

These curses pertain specifically to the type of doll that you have.

For example, a doll made from ice could allow you to freeze and thaw someone’s body at will, and even shatter it, or inflict frostbite.

A doll made from netherrack could allow you to set your victim on fire, or perhaps melt their flesh, soften their bones.

A doll made from emerald could allow you to inflict the victim with a curse that makes them to liquify into a large green globule of slime.

A doll made from stone could cause you to inflict a curse that turns the victims blood to stone, or have their bones crumble into rubble.

These are just examples, and bare in mind these only pertain to a specific doll.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

- Torture someone without physical contact, possibly without them even knowing you’re there or knowing who is doing it.

- Can weaken someone in combat, though you would still first need the blood of said person.

- As long as the Soul Puppeteer has the puppet, he can practice his curses, but would still need a soul to practice on.

Weaknesses

- You need the fresh blood from a victim, you want to use the magic on.

- You need a puppet. Without it, you cannot practice or use the magic.

- The puppet needs to represent the person you want to use the magic on. A Kharajyr doll would need a tail, snout and possibly ears.

- A lower tier puppet can’t use the curses from a higher tier.

- Holy Magic is able to break the link between puppet and the victim and the curse.

- A lower tier Puppeteer will not be able to hold the link between man and puppet as long as a higher tier one.

- Hurting, cursing or controlling someone's limbs really fatigues the magic user, even more on lower tiers.

- Curses backfire.

[This means that the victim will have 100% of the damage, but you will only have a certain percentage of the damage]
