Snowy Fields was a town to the north of Al'Khazar in Aegis. It was the site of many battles between the Humans of Oren and the Undead. It was removed from the Undead's grasp by the troops of Alstion on the ((24 August 2011)). After the town finally fell for the last time it was left as ruins until Crimson Vale was built on the site.

History

Tarannon and Zerragon Stormborn, two childhood friends and adventurers, decided to explore the vast unmapped North, and if luck and fortune was with them, wanted to form their own little community, even a town.

A few days march north of Al'Khazar, they found a beautiful piece of landscape which perfectly fit in their vision for a little village. Long snowfilled fields as far as the eye could see. They built a couple of small houses first to keep themselves warm, and to serve as a base while they started digging for resources and explored the lands surrounding their new houses.

Then, they made a fantastic discovery. Hidden underground they found the remnants of an old ruin, but upon closer examination, they found out the ruins actually were a temple. Some inscriptions on the withered old sandstone looking material indicated that this was an old temple dedicated to the Aengul, and linked with the history of the Ascended. The two friends immediately began fortifying the town, in a valiant attempt to keep the Undead from getting their hands on this sacred place.

Large walls were built in record time, a deep moat, drawbridges and portcullises, and several guards were hired - all in an attempt to protect the temple. And all to no avail.

The Fall of Snowy Fields

The new defences made in Snowy Fields did seem to stem the Undead advance to a certain degree, and a period of relative calm and a sort of cease-fire lulled the inhabitants of the town in to a false sense of safety. This illusion was brought down, however, after some overzealous heroes tried to attack the nearby Undead fort several times. The consequence of this was outright war with more and more battles, the next more savage and bloodier than the previous one. After a few months of relentless attacks on Snowy Fields ((last week of July through the second week of August 2011)), and Zerragon felt they had no other choice than to abandon their beloved Snowy Fields.

They barely managed to rescue their most valuable resources before the last battle stood, and began exploring the realm of Aegis once again, in search of a new place to settle.

((The last battle was on Wednesday 24 August 2011. The troops were successful and managed to reclaim Snowy Fields.)).

Architecture

Zerragon and Tarannon were the lords and builders of Snowy Fields. They kept a strict style that fit the harsh environment, and created solid houses made of cobblestone and wood. They also empowered some walls with thick wool to increase the houses resistance to cold, because of the lack of fireplaces and chimneys.

Buildings

Snowy Fields had many houses and buildings before it's fall.

Functional buildings

The Old Crossroads Inn - A cozy little inn for travelers to stay the night while venturing north. The inn had a very attractive top room/attic with a very nice view over Snowy Fields and surrounding lands.

Village Storehouse - A huge structure with a perfectly indexed storage system for keeping all kinds of resources used for building the town.

Underground farms - Having discovered some fantastic sketches and diagrams of ancient technology from the Aengul temple under the town, they managed to locate, and repair, an old half automatic farm system. It utilized a complex redstone circuit system to harvest wheat, sugar cane and mushrooms from different farms, and gather it together in little space.

Barracks & City Wall - Formed a solid defence for Snowy Fields. Double walls and gates with portcullis.

The plaza - Centre of Snowy Fields, with a beautiful fountain, surrounded by different shops forming a marketplace.

A moat and drawbridge was also created before the fall, but did little to stem the Undead advance.

Shops

Bakery - A place to create cakes, food and biscuits from the farm harvests. Food was also sold here.

Clothing & Wool store - A huge store that sold clothing and wool in all kinds of dyes and shape. A fancy store with most of what it sells displayed around the store. The second floor had dressing rooms for customers to see how their clothing looked like before they decided to purchase.

Blacksmith - A place to repair and forge weapons and armor.

Clay shop - A little shop which dealt in clay and bricks.

The Snowy Fields marketplace housed several shops.

Mage Guild

Snowy Fields had an official Mage Guild, the guildmaster was Ogland.

It had the guildmasters personal study and quarters,

A huge library with a fireplace where students of magic could find warmth and calm while studying ancient texts and literature.

A huge auditorium used for teaching several students at once.

And a large area, remnants of the underground Aengul temple, used exclusively as living quarters for the mages.

Tarannon's Tower

Tarannon's tower did not only hold the builder's own private quarters, but also some public rooms and halls.

A good lookout point from above Tarannon's Solar, with view of the old ruins of the Orc village to the north of Snowy Fields, and the Undead base.

A great library that held the lore uncovered from the Ancient Aengul Temple underneath the town, as well as all kinds of books from all corners of Aegis.

A great feast hall where the town's citizens and it's guests could celebrate their victories loudly with ale in hand or sit in quiet and solitude, listening to the crackle of the fireplace and watching the strange creatures that lived in the depth of the moat.

Hot and cold baths, and steam room. When the frozen wastes of the north have had you in their grip for awhile, and your joints ache from the cold - what better way is there to thaw them than to sit in a steam room for a few minutes, or take a scolding hot bath?

A food storage big enough to get Snowy Fields through the longest of sieges without famine being an issue.

Several guest rooms and suites, most notably The Water Suite, situated at the bottom of the moat, with glass walls and ceiling.
