Characteristics

The Phoenix is a large bird with a wingspan of over 15ft across, it is the largest winged avian in the known world. With a plumage ranging from red to green depending on the species. The phoenix wields sharp claws and a razor beak, yet possess a keen intelligent seen behind their black eyes. They watch their environment and focus on anything which could become an immediate danger to them or their master if tamed. This is why Phoenixes are so difficult to capture, and why their masters are chosen by them solely out of respect. Phoenixes, while not being pack animals, will latch onto who it may deem to be an Alpha. Being birds of prey, it will not settle for a master of weak physique or intellect.

When a Phoenix is mortally wounded or near the end of its lifespan, they will shed their feathers and dissipate into dust, leaving behind a large golden egg. The egg can be hatched to rebirth the Phoenix once more. Only 12 Phoenixes are known to ever be in existence at the same time.

Behavior

A Phoenix typically tends to make its nests around different climates depending on which species the Phoenix is. While it can live anywhere with minimal health concerns, a Phoenix’s mood peeks when being in the climate of choice. Phoenixes are happy birds if residing within a habitat they prefer. Such as a hot savanna for the Ignis Phoenix, a dense forest for the Ligno Phoenix, the Dwarven mountains for the Glacium Phoenix and any high up place for the Aether phoenix. While not directly dangerous, an unhappy Phoenix will take orders from its master reluctantly and not without airing out its complaints.

Types

  • Ignis - The fire Phoenix, whose plumage flutter in shades from yellow to red crimson. On the end of the feathers, a little flame would continue to exist during the Phoenix's entire life. Getting more powerful as the Phoenix grows older of age and eventually even becoming so strong that the Phoenix burns itself.
  • Ligno - The forest Phoenix has a plumage ranging from a dark brown to dark green. Whoever'd look a little closer would see that the Ligno Phoenix, in fact, is more like a flying bush, it's tail also as parts of it's wings are made out of Twigs, vines, and branches.
  • Glacium - The Glacium Phoenix is the Phoenix of Ice. Its plumage ranges from light to dark blue. Whoever gets close to this Phoenix would clearly feel the cold it radiates as it leaves behind a trail of snowflakes. Dwarven legends have it that the earliest forms of hail stem from the wrath of a Glacium.
  • Aether - The Aether phoenix, the Phoenix of Air, is the rarest species of phoenixes in existence. Soaring constantly at high altitudes, only the sharpest eyes with the aid of a scope may spot one gliding by. Its plumage ranges from a pure white to a slate gray. The Aether Phoenix is known as the fastest of the Phoenixes.

Weaknesses

Please note: The following information is scarcely known. Do not metagame to know this information unless directly informed in-character.

All Phoenixes live in harmony, as their strengths are mostly matched due to their elemental balance to one another. However, it is possible to harm the phoenix and kill it using the right opposite of their elements, and then killing the egg before it hatches anew.
