Biography

Early life

Upbrought under the tutelage of both Charles Elliot and Antonius in the northern bounds of Aeldin, the boy was informed of his destiny to potentially unify the Renatian throne due to his parents, who joined the two most prominent bloodlines of the Horenic Dynasty in marriage. By being guided by two influential princes of their time, he was expected to learn politics and combat. Their lessons well into the boy’s childhood, yet he seemingly could not claim what told could be his as the War of Two Emperors began. Ultimately, the conflict resulted in the dissolution of the Empire of Man, the House of Horen, and the Kingdom of Renatus.

With the Holy Orenian Empire being secured under the line of Cascadia, any ambitions for the throne were dropped and instead Owyn was sent to the lands of Arcas to rally those of Renatian descent who had abandoned the Empire upon its reformation of the 8th Empire. With scions of the Crownlands united, Owyn established the Phoenix Band.

Phoenix Band Captain

His arrival on Arcas was initiated by a warm welcome from a Renatian war hero, Donald Dabber, who had already begun gathering up disgruntled Renatians that disavowed the current regimes decision to re-vassalise the Kingdom of Haense despite their wrongdoings in their perpetrated rebellion and consequent defeat. It did not take long for discussion to climax with Donald in the decision to form a mercenary company branded as the Phoenix Band in respect to the Renatian Phoenix.

The first decision of Owyn was to declare his distaste towards the Kingdom of Haense, offering himself and his company to fight gratuitously for any that would decide to war the crippled state; the reasoning for such being the prior rebellion of Haense during the War of Two Emperors which resulted in the Kingdom of Haense being infamously spared by the Cascadian regime - a display of weakness in Owyn’s eyes.

The company was founded upon a bountiful start, as word spread quickly of the new company and contracts were filed in effortlessly; in turn, multiple contracts were completed from all across the continent with blistering success. The Band’s work ranged from guard duty, to training lesser armed forces and battling bandits.

The King Slayer

One of Owyn’s earliest defining successes was when he earned the moniker of ‘King Slayer’, acquired after undertaking a contract to assassinate the King of Curon. The contract was carried out proficiently, with a cunning plot connived by the Captain which entailed sneaking in to the Palace under the premise of a contract to protect Pierce’s lover, Theodosia Tiber.

Once inside of the Palace the Captain ordered the attack and his men drew their blades; a large-scale fight ensuing in the throne room of the Palace. Owyn and his forces emerged successful and subsequently Owyn claimed the life of a King. Forevermore being known as ‘King Slayer’.

Massacre at Court

Owyn displayed his tact in strategy when he was hired by Donald Dabber to attack an Imperial Court in retaliation to an Orenian slight. While Owyn did not participate in the bloody slaughter that was to ensue, he had drawn up plans and trained the two men he sent on how to enact the plans with the utmost efficiency. The plans worked flawlessly with a stunning, hugely outnumbered victory being gained by the Phoenix Band - the contract was a true merit to the incredible militaristic mind and foresight possessed by Owyn.
