Nether

The Nether is a hellish region home to the Undead. The only way to travel to and from this region is through portals. It is believed that the Nether sucks the soul from your body, causing damage to any race but the Undead. Building portals was always considered unwise and illegal in most areas. Inside the Nether the toxic atmosphere quickly killed all those not Undead. Zombie Pigmen, Blazes and Ghasts were native to the Nether but Undead magic allowed them to roam freely in Aegis. Although portals to the Nether were relatively common in Aegis, none have been recorded in any other realms and it is commonly thought that the Undead have remained inside the Nether since. The Undead nation of Drauchreich was primarily in the Nether, as was the Undead city of Drauchriem.

Invasion Of

In 1351, the Undead had taken over most of Aegis, including Al'Khazar, the north, Alras, New Terriko and Kal'Urguan. Faced with the possibility of Iblees winning his long fought war and completely taking over all of Aegis, the nations banded together. Most chose several of their finest warriors to lead an attack on the Nether. Those who were chosen faced a high risk of death, but eternal glory regardless of life or death. Upon entering the Nether, they faced a long and broken path, under constant attack from monsters, Undead, lightning and lava. Many were lost along the way, but some managed to get to an ancient artifact tied to the Undead power. It was taken into the Nexus and cast into the lava there, thus sealing the Undead inside the Nether and preventing them from carrying on their assault on Aegis.
