Levian'Tol Grandaxe also known as The Grand Retiree was Grand King of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, who rose to prominence as a simple brewer and barkeeper in the city of Kal’Evraal and Kal'Darakaan. Before this, he was an adventurer who sold wares on all corners of Arcas and Almaris before living much of his early life in Morsgrad. During this time, he'd met who would become a mentor to him, Dhaen Grandaxe, and she would guide him into rejoining his kin. During the reign of Norli Starbreaker, Levian'Tol would rise to Grand Steward and Grand Banker leading to Urguan accumulating fabulous amounts of wealth and land. During this time a controversial strategy was devised to bring in foreigners as vassals to bolster the nation. This would come to define Levian'Tol's legacy. As Grand King, Levian'Tol was given the crown of Rhewen Frostbeard which he wore while continuing his efforts to bring in a multitude of peoples both as peaceful tenants and as warlike mercenaries. In this time, he led a conflict that would lead to the dissolution of the name Warnation of Krugmar from the Orcish people as well as the subjugation of the Nation of Vortice. Upon his abdication he placed the crown upon the desk of Ulfric Frostbeard and left for many decades. Upon his return he would be granted the title of Field Marshal in the War of the Wigs where he led an ultimately fruitless effort to hold back the Imperial Forces and Ferrymen from Haverlock.

History

Marshal of The Brotherhood of The Flame

During Levian’Tol’s youth he took up adventuring, with no memories of his youth or parentage he had no direction as he traveled from place to place selling goods and his ax for a price. He would eventually find this purpose in Morsgrad as he joined a militarist group of Red Faith fanatics and with his experience he quickly rose to the position of Marshal in the Brotherhood of The Flame. This group wrestled control of the politics in Morsgard, installing individuals that were amenable to their wishes in the position of Duke and High Keeper. During this time, Levian’Tol began making more frequent trips to the homeland he never knew he had in the newly established Grand Kingdom of Urguan.

Clan Grandaxe

Levian’Tol Grandaxe visited the tavern of Urguan often, it was here he met the first of his kin. Chief among those he met would be Dhaen Grandaxe who would aide in teaching Levian’Tol Grandaxe the way of his kin. He would learn of the Dwarven Language and leave the Brotherhood of The Flame as he converts to the Brathmordakin. Levian’Tol would move to Urguan and learn of his lineage, being a Grimaxe of the Elie line, he’d be allowed to complete his Grandaxe Trials and become a fully fledged member of Clan Grandaxe.

Levian’Tol's KnickKnacks & PaddyWacks

After becoming a Grandaxe, Levian’Tol would put down his ax and turn to more peaceful affairs. He’d lean on his past adventuring and start a trading company called Levian’Tol KnickKnacks & PaddyWacks which quickly rose to prominence as one of the premier trading companies in craftable goods. With his profits he would partner with a kinsman, Thalgous Grandaxe, to build the Grand Brewery near Sutica. Levian’Tol would move most of KnickKnacks & PaddyWacks operations to the Grand Brewery and accumulate a vast amount of wealth for himself with his storefronts in every major nation of Arcas and 10s of employees selling his wares.

Iron Baron

As Levian’Tol’s business shrunk with the Inferni attacking all across Arcas, he would move back to Urguan permanently to be close to his kin. It was here where his adoptive mother Dhaen Grandaxe would instruct him in the finer points of manning a bar and brewing drinks. Many of the drinks Levian’Tol made in this time would be sold out of his training company though the most popular of his brews would not be one made for consumption. Grandaxe Everclear, an alcohol that burned so hot that even Inferni suffered under its flame. Eventually Dhaen Grandaxe would leave her place as Iron Baron of the tavern and take up a position as Grand Merchant, giving her tavern and all of its responsibilities to Levian’Tol. As the Inferni consumed Arcas Levian’Tol would travel with his kin to the new lands of Almaris.

Grand Brewmaster

Almaris is where Levian’Tol truly perfected his craft. He would spend days in the depths of the Grandaxe Clan Hall Brewery, slaving over the most minute details in his recipes as his brews reached a new level. Soon Grandaxe Ale, Grandaxe Whiskey, Grimaxe Seasonal Vodka, Grandaxe Everclear, and Candied Pear Cider were sold in every tavern from Norland, to Oren, across through Elvenesse, and even in the hallowed halls of Haelun’or. It was rare that one could visit any establishment that sold alcohol and not encounter one of his brews. Levian’Tol would also meet his wife at this time, the future High Chief of Heffrum and Queen of Urguan, Yazmorra Blackroot. The time he was not spending on his stills and worts he would be behind the counter of the Urguan tavern named after his adoptive mother. This time in his life is where Levian’Tol would earn his most popular moniker, The Brewer King.

Grand Steward & Grand Banker

During the reign of Norli Starbreaker, Dhaen Grandaxe stepped down from her role as Grand Merchant and gave all of her tools and documents to Levian’Tol Grandaxe who assumed the role. The foundations established by Dhaen allowed Levian’Tol to excel in his role where he even began to take on more responsibilities with negotiating land grants for vassals and inviting new peoples to come and live under Urguan. This system of vassalage has come to define much of Levian’Tol’s legacy as his patronage of many mercenary groups like Blackvale, The Goats of Sedan, and The Rustlers as well as many people like the Dark Elves, Ronam, and the Paladins of Xan led to his popularity expanding especially when he took on the role of Grand Banker and oversaw the vast wealth of the realm. This popularity followed him into the election where he became Grand King of Urguan.

Grand King

A controversial Grand King of Urguan, Levian’Tol helped usher in a new Golden Age of the Grand Kingdom by expanding the process he had overseen as Grand Steward of allowing foreign races to acquire land within the Grand Kingdom by paying a stipend and pledging their loyalty. This process enabled The Grand Kingdom to reach new levels of vitality and strength through the usage of these foreign races as auxiliary forces for both the Legion and Workforce. The strength of these forces were put to test against the Warnation of Krugmar that had shaved the clan father of the Ireheart’s, Bakir Ireheart’s, beard as an insult. The justice wrought upon them was long and brutal but on the other side the Warnation had collapsed and new Uruk leadership rose that desired peace so they unilaterally agreed to all the terms set forth by Levian’Tol, chief among these was the surrendering of the title ‘Warnation of Krugmar’. Levian'Tol also grew the international relationship between The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and The Grand Kingdom of Urguan with the May-Grandaxe Agreement which led to a full military alliance between the nations. During this time Levian'Tol also assumed the Clan Fathership of Clan Grandaxe. At the end of Levian’Tol’s ~30 year reign the coffers were overflowing, the strength was unquestionable, and his duty, however controversial, had been done to the Nation. He left the crown on the desk of the Lord Justicar, Ulfric Frostbeard, and vanished to his worldly interests for many years.

Field Marshal

During the War of the Wigs, Levian’Tol Grandaxe would return to Urguan as the throngs were called up to war. During the ‘eve of the war he served simply as an officer in the legion, aiding in organizing small efforts to support the war though when the Ferrymen left the alliance and joined The Holy Orenian Empire, Levian’Tol was asked by the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and its steadfast ally The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska to take up command of the militaries of both nations as an overall commander to better organize the two vastly different fighting forced. He led the coalition armies to several victories, chief among these being the Sacking of Stone Tower before the disastrous defeat at the Siege of Haverlock. Levian’Tol would help to organize the resistance as Oren pushed further towards the Grand Kingdom but as the tide shifted back into the hands of the Tripartite Accord, Levian’Tol resigned his position as Bakir Ireheart was elected Grand King.
