The Kingdom of Santegia-Haria, more colloquially referred to as 'Santegia' (Savinian: Santugia eta Haria Erreinua; Santegian: Reino de Santegia y Haria; Qalasheen: Mamlakat Haria wa'Shaytimakan; Flexio: Regnum Santum et Haria), was the personal union between the Kingdom of Santegia and the Sultanate of Haria. It was located on the Timberwoods river on the Isles of Atlas, bordering the Kingdom of Norland to the north. The fertile land around the Timberwoods river were characterised by vast swathes of farmland, used to provide for the populace of the nation.

The personal union between Santegia and Haria emerged once the Queen of Santegia, Soraya Kharadeen was named heir of the Sultanate of Haria with her father's abdication - as the eldest child of Sultan Fakhri Kharadeen.[1] As a result, it commenced a personal union between the two nations on the 13th of the Sun's Smile, 1639.[2] The most recent reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Santegia was Leoiarizaltzu de Savin, crowned on the 8th of the Grand Harvest, 1629. The most recent reigning monarch of the Sultanate of Haria was Soraya Kharadeen, crowned on the 20th of the Sun's Smile, 1639.

History

Prehistory

The Kingdom of Santegia and the Sultanate of Haria enjoyed intimate but neutral relations for forty years prior to the union, through the Duchy of Savinia. The ruling House de Savin of Santegia were a heartlandic people nurtured in Qalasheen and farfolk culture. This quasi-Qalasheen culture developed and refined itself to become the distinctive Savinian culture, which would later contribute itself to the amalgamation of cultures found in Santegia.

On Atlas

Following the great exodus from Axios to Atlas, the Santegian-Harian people settled themselves on the Timberwoods delta. Over decades, this settlement would transform into the capital, Presa de Madera. During the early years of Atlas, Santegia-Haria joined Norland in attacking Curon. This lead to a small scale conflict between several nations, which Santegia-Haria ended up getting the worse end up, losing skirmishes more often than it won them. It lated ended up joining a coalition with the Principality of Curon and Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. This caused many of its people to leave the city, having long had problems with both these nations. Despite the formation of this coalition against Crown of Renatus-Marna, they often lost to this power, causing the coalition to slowly collapse. With people leaving its nation, Santegia-Haria left in a vulnerable position. This position was ultimately exploited by Renatus-Marna, who offered King Leo de Savin the chance to surrender his nation peacefully. The King took the offer, and handed Santegia-Haria over to a Horen, who transformed it into the Kingdom of Santegia, later ceding the Kingdom to his liege lord, Emperor Aurelius, as a defunct state.

Geography

The Kingdom of Santegia-Haria was located in the southeast of Atlas. It was situated on the coast and had it's capital build on and around the Timberwood riverdelta. The Kingdom's capital, Presa de Madera, was also named after said river as it's name meant 'Dam of the Timber' in Santegian. Outside the nation's capital lay some fields that were used for farming. Further upstream lay the Principality of Curon and following the coast to the north one could come across the Kingdom of Norland. To the south of Santegia-Haria lay nothing, leading to the nation having unofficially claimed said area to have it under control for protection and possible future use.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms for the united realms of Santegia and Haria consists of 28 quarterings, symbolising the personal union between the two states. Each quarter represents a heraldic achievement that has been obtained either through conquest or heritage. The territorial claim held by the royal family is featured as an inescutcheon, the superimposed arms of de Savin y Kharadeen upon the quartered arms of the Kingdom of Santegia and the Sultanate of Haria. The fleur-de-lis upon green represents the Principality of Evreux, a reminder of the Santegian Rebellion which resulted in its conquest and the prompt establishment of Santegia. The quartered variants of the Horenic dragon on purple and the Dreadlandic cross upon red represent the island of Asul, which was united in its entirety under the Kingdom of Santegia. The black crow and star upon yellow represents the Caliphate of Khalestine, the first Qalasheen state, while the crescent and crossing scimitars upon green represent the Sultanate of Sharaf.

The royal blazon is as follows:

Quarterly, first and fourth quartered: first and fourth Vert semé-de-lis Or overall on a Sable bend three eagles Argent (for Evreux); second and third quartered: first and fourth Purpure dragon Or (for Cascadia), second and third Gules saltire Argent (for Asul); second and third quartered: first and fourth Or eight pointed star Sable above a crow Sable (for Khalestine), second and third Vert two crossed scimitars Argent above a crescent Argent (for Sharaf); overall a quartered escutcheon, first and fourth Tenné six bendlets sinister Or (for de Savin), second and third Tenné a star Argent above a crescent Argent (for Kharadeen).
