The ker wolves are large seven foot tall wolves. Large beasts with massive bodies, these wolves are known for their dark pelts that seem to meld into the shadows. Their size varies between five feet to seven feet and their weight anywhere from 800 pounds to 1200 pounds, making them smaller and lighter than lur wolves. However, these wolves are around the same size as thoroughbreds and shire horses, making them perfect sized for a normal elf to ride.

Origin

Ker wolves were first domesticated by the mali’ker of old, however, their ritual was lost and only a few dedicated families still carry it on. Ker wolves were more gentle towards children than adults. Noticing this, the first mali’ker sent in his youngest son, a child of eight. He watched from afar as the boy trembled near the large wolf, but his interest peaked when the wolf took the child into his den. After several hours, the child returned with a pup the size of a german shepherd. The ritual of the Ker wolves was soon learned and only the mali’ker were given the information. However, as centuries passed, the ritual was lost, only to be known by the families of the wolf.

Behavior

Ker wolves look and seem vicious and bloodthirsty. Their grown and bark shows them as highly aggressive and very intimidating. However, their true temperament is the complete opposite.Very calm and gentle, these wolves play the part of vicious attack dogs. Very few were willing to get near the wolves believing they would be killed, however, despite this all, they are docile. With temperaments similar to golden retrievers, these wolves are very loyal and very sweet. However, this also comes with domestication. Ker wolves will not be as peaceful to people unless raised around them.

The dark wolves diet consists of large game, humanoid creatures, and smaller creatures. Being completely carnivorous, ker wolves are meat eaters. Usually, they will hunt large game going after deer and elk. Occasionally they go after smaller game but this does not calm their appetite over for much. They have been known to go into farms and kill livestock and horses.

Abilities

The owners of ker wolves normally ride the beasts. While they appear vicious, they are quite calm, which just makes the ker wolves a very intimidating mount, but serves as nothing more than what a horse could.

Redlines

  • Ker wolves do not attack descendants unless attacked.
  • Even when threatened, they will never kill a descendant, though they might wound one.
  • Ker wolves have to be domesticated in roleplay.
  • Druid magic will not sway the beast to be more easily domesticatable.

Mechanics

  • Ker wolves can have a mechanical representation of a horse (normally a black one)

Dominance

Ker wolves have their own heirarchy. To show dominance towards a ker wolf shows you can protect the young as they would you. This is usually seen by not looking away when the mother stares you down.

Courage

Ker wolves are large creatures. Strength and speed are an asset to the wolves. They often try to scare would be tamers away by being intimidating. If angered, they will bite. Standing, unflinching under their scrutiny tends to win the trust of the wolf over.

Kindness

Offering the mother wolf a meal is the fastest way to getting hurt. It is an insult to her. However, bringing food for the pup, shows compasion. Should the mother wolf let you pass, presenting meat to the pup will ensure it will accept you as its littermate.

The Ritual Breakdown

The stages of getting a wolf is always Distrust, Intimidation, Acceptance or Injury. Ker wolves will injure any who attempt to continue the ritual after they have deemed the person unworthy.

First two to three emotes should concist of them showing distrust.

The following emotes would be intimidation, trying to scare off the potential companion.

If they are acceptable, the wolf would allow them to approach the pup.

If they are denied, the following emotes would be either of injury or taking the pup away.

RED LINES

  • A ker wolf does not aim to kill, if the player is persistant, take the pup away and end the roleplay.
  • Druid magic will not sway the beast in this sense, keep the roleplay fair (Most mother wolves are companion animals, wild ones should be played by an ET)
  • Do not make it unfair to others even if you dont like them.
  • Don't metagame the ritual. If you never did it, or were taught, you don't know it.
  • Don't metagame how to succeed in the ritual. Its meant to test the character.
