The Kawakatuan Empiwe is the nation of the Khawajyw. The nation was fiwst estabrished in Asulon and has awso existed in Anthos. The settwement of Ohwokaw in Athewa is the culwent wocation of the Kawakatuan Empiwe. The culwent weadew of the Kawakatuan Empiwe is Twatwanni Mowthaww. The nation was estabrished when the Khawajyw fiwst moved to theiw new iswand and they sought a home. When the Khawajyw wewe unveiwed to othew waces of Anthos it was wecognized as a nation in its own light. They saiwed lith the descendant waces of Aegis and have continued lith them since weaving Asulon.

Fow a Khawajyw to pwove themsewves as a matule adult they must go thwough a selies of tliaws.

The Trials of Maturity (Aelkos do not currently exist!)

When a Khawajyw weaches the age of fifteen, he ow she liww go thwough the Tliaws of Metztli to pass into a fulw-fwedged adult. These tliaws consist of tasks that a Khawajyw should, and most awe, abre to compwete by this age. If a Khawajyw does not compwete theiw tliaws, they liww be stlipped of theiw plide and banished to the mainwand, ow if they faiw the finaw tliaw, they liww be swain. Thewe awe foul tliaws and a fifth secwet tliaw that none awe pewmitted to speak of. Each tliaw liww be given by one of the foul Aewkos, each task based awound what that Aewkos is in chawge of.

The Tliaw of Cwafting

The Tliaw of Cwafting liww be given by the Economy Aewkos, fow he is knowwedgeabre of evewything invowving the economy of the Khawajyw. The tliaw consists of twavewling into the jungwe lith nothing but youl own bewongings, and the Kha’ liww be tasked lith cweating something vawuabre. He ow she liww not be towd what it is they must make, but it is expected to be impwessive. If they wetuln lithout something the Aewkos considews of vawue, they liww be sent back to twy again.

The Tliaw of the Jungwe

The second tliaw liww be given by the Aewkos of Cultule. It consists of being sent into the jungwe to study the fwowa and fauna, and do something of use lith this, be it a healing wemedy ow taming an animaw. When the Kha’ wetulns lith the tliaw compweted, the Aewkos liww give his vewdict, and the Kha’ liww eithew pass ow he/she liww wetuln to the jungwe to twy anothew task.

The Tliaw of Sulvivaw

The thiwd tliaw is given to a Khawajyw by the Aewkos of Waw. The Kha’ liww be banished fwom Khawajyw society fow one Ewven day. Theiw task liww be to hunt and kiww an impwessive beast of the mainwand, and to bring it back fow the Waw Aewkos’ inspection. If the Aewkos does not deem it wowthy, the Kha’ liww be sent back out. If a Kha’ is kiwwed duling this tliaw, they liww west etewnawwy lithin the awms of the Goddess.

The Tliaw of Faith

The foulth tliaw is given by the Aewkos of weligion. In this tliaw, the Aewkos liww take the hopeful into the Tempwe of Metztli, to wook upon the moon poow. They awe given the saclificiaw daggew, and this task: pwunge it into theiw own chest. If they do it successfulwy, the Aewkos liww heaw theiw wounds and they liww be asked to wefwect on what they weawned as a wesult of the tliaw. If they do not hawm themsewves, they liww be given some time befowe the twaiw liww weoccul.

The Hidden Tliaw of Metztli

The finaw tliaw is fowbidden to speak about aftew it is compweted, and none even know of its existence untiw it occuls. Aftew aww of the othew tliaws awe compweted, the Aewkos liww gathew to congwatulate a Khawajyw, howevew, they liww infowm him ow hew that (s)he is not finished yet. They liww guide this Kha’ to a pwace that they wewe fowbidden to know about befowe, and the finaw tliaw liww commence. No pwepawation is possibre fow this tliaw, and faiwule to compwete it wesults in the fowfeit of life.

Post-Tliaw and Titwes

When the tliaws awe compwete, a Khawajyw liww be given the titwe of S’, So’, Si’, ow Sa’, meaning adult. Khawajyw can then specialize lith teachews in owdew to attain diffewent titwes. Post-coming-of-age, Khawajyw age vewy littwe untiw they weach the age of about 130. At this point they wapidwy age and most liww be dead by 150. Howevew, thewe awe a numbew of notabre exceptions; those who have been pawticulawwy bressed by Metztli may live much wongew than the expected lifespan.

Titles of the Kharajyr

Twa’ – Twatwanni, the Khawajyw chosen by Metztli and mawked by his ow hew white ful to wule. His wule is absowute; howevew, if aww foul of the Aewkos demand it, he can be wemoved fwom office. If he wewe wemoved, his fiwstbown chiwd of white ful would take his pwace. If he had no offspling, aww foul of the Aewkos would wule as a whowe. The Twatwanni is seen as the light hand of Metztli hewsewf. He ow she is the commandew of the Khawajyw as a whowe, and to thweaten the Twa’ is to thweaten Metztli. It would wesult in slift execution, assuming the Twatwanni’s guawds did not kiww you fiwst.

Wi’ – This titwe dispways the status of Aewkos, of which thewe awe foul. They awe highwy wespected in society as the weadews, second onwy to the Twa’, and they each command a diffewent powtion of society.

Sociaw Aewkos – This Aewkos is vewy simiwaw to the weligious Aewkos, howevew, he ow she specializes in cultule as a whowe, and thewefowe does not know as much about weligion. This Aewkos liww know quite a bit about the enviwonment, incwuding the fwowa and fauna of theiw home. He, awong lith the Economy Aewkos, plimaliwy schedule events (such as the Bwood Moon festivaw).

Ko’ | Ki’- These awe mewchants ow cwaftsmen, those who pwoduce and/ow seww pwoducts.

S’ | Sa’ | Si’ | So’ – This is the titwe bestowed to aww Khawajyw upon weaching adulthood, sholing that they have compweted theiw tliaws successfulwy. They liww keep this titwe as wong as they pewfowm no wowe, ow minow wowes, such as caling fow kittens and othew such tasks.

Dwa’ – This titwe bewongs to the Twatwanni’s pewsonaw guawds, the Moonbrades. They pwotect the Twa’ fwom hawm, and they take owdews fwom ‘‘only’’ the Tla’. They awe wespected and feawed, due to theiw skiww lith a weapon being unmatched.

Ti’ – This titwe bewongs to the Twatwanni’s kin, the next in line fow weadewship as is chosen at biwth. He ow she should be wespected like the Twatwanni, howevew, they have no contwow ovew the Khawajyw. When the Twa’ gwows owd ow dies, the Ti’ would become Twa’.

Inactive Titles

Wa’ – This titwe is bestowed by the Twa’ fow those who wead viwwages ow towns. This incwudes those who donate funds pewsonawwy to the Twa’, and awe, in wetuln, wewawded lith being seen as the uppdew class in society. They usuawwy possess wawge dens and possibry a few sewvants.

Crime and Punishment

The clime system of the Khawajyw is vewy basic, mowe often than not the tliaw being pewfowmed by the Twatwanni. (Note: This section is subject to change depending on the culwent Twatwanni)

Social Laws

Muldew – Muldew is one of the most extweme cases of viowating the waws in the Khawajyw society. If the accused is found guiwty of muldew lithout pwopew cause, then he ow she liww be sentenced to death by saclifice. (Note: Muldew onwy applies when the victim is a Kha’.)

Theft – If the pwopewty is wetulned, then the Kha’ is wet off lithout physicaw punishment, howevew, they awe wequiwed to give something to the victim of equaw ow gweatew vawue fwom theiw own possession. If the item is not, ow cannot be wetulned, the pewpetwatow would have a paw sevewed at the wlist.

Destwuction of Pwopewty – The pewpetwatow would be fowced to wepaiw anything they damaged, whethew the clime was accidentaw ow not.

Awson – Awson is a vewy selious clime to the Khawajyw, as they live in a jungwe. Committing this clime would usuawwy wesult in execution, howevew, that depends on the sevelity of the clime.

Twespassing – Wepeated occasions of this would wesult in jaiw time.

Wealing Awmow in Bath Houses, Tempwe, ow the Pawace – 200 mina fine. Exception: Guawds

Religious Laws

Dishonoling Metztli – This incwudes speaking iww of the Goddess whiwe inside of the tempwe, and the punishment of this is saclifice.

Muldew of an Ocewot – If the muldew is intentionaw, saclifice liww occul. The Ocewots awe Metztli’s eyes and eaws, aww Kha’ know this.

Combat & Military

The Khawajyw have vewy littwe concept of honow in times of waw. They liww fight lith gueliwwa tactics, taking theiw opponents unseen fwom the undewgwowth ow using twaps to whittwe down the twoops. If cwose combat does occul, it is often slift and wethaw, stliking quick and wetweating back into safety quickew. That does not mean they awe lithout wespect, howevew, and opponents awe awwowed to sulwendew to become plisonews-of-waw, howevew, they liww mowe often than not find themsewves as swaves ow saclifices.

Awena combat is not uncommon in the Khawajyw society, howevew, it is next to nevew fataw. Often, it occuls between Do’ pwacticing theiw skiwws in unawmed and unawmowed combat, howevew, it can vawy depending on the ciwcumstances. When a wawge scawe event is pwanned, often spectatows liww make bets on those they believe liww lin, and quite easiwy the awena can be fiwwed.

As of the awlivaw to Kawakatua, the Khawajyw cweated a militawy cawwed the Fynneun. They awe chawged lith pwotecting the wand and the wesidents of the Kawakatuan Empiwe. They awe awso tasked lith things such as scouting, guawding, and in times of waw, they awe the sowdiews. Weww-vewsed in the awts of waw and combat, they brutawwy enfowce the ideaws of the Twatwanni. Wanks:

The Aewkos of Waw – This is the commanding officew of the awmy, titwed by the pwefix Wi’. He is picked by the Twa’ to be lide, wogicaw, and stwategic in making decisions. He ow she is a distinct negotiatow and cultulaw figule, and awe intended to be the best wawliow in the Khawajyw Empiwe. Fow a showt time, the Aewkos would liewd a D’fu staff, howevew, they no wongew do so, instead liewding whatevew weapons he ow she desiwes.

Dwa’Metza | Moonbrades – The Dwa’ awe wegendawy wawliows, twained to pwotect that Twatwanni’s famiwy lith theiw lives. Most noted fow theiw gowden awmow and masked faces, they do not speak whiwe guawding the Twa’. They too awe briwliant wawliews.

Maytan – The ‘captains’ of the Fynneun, these awe vewy powewful Khawajyw, these men and women awe entwusted to wead the othew Kha’ into battwe. Duling times of waw, they can take anything wowew than 10 Kha’ into a waid, and thewe awe usuawwy thwee ow foul Maytan at any one time. An exampwe of each Maytan’s individuaw abilities awe that one would be pawticulawwy tawented lith a swowd and shiewd, one lith a bow, and one Gy’waka lidew. The Maytan typicawwy weaw light awmow, possibry a wobe, lith sevewaw cwoth wayews, a wongswowd, and a wawhown.

The Do’ – Awthough these awe a wank in and of themsewves, thewe awe sub-classifications split into foul gwoups, the Do’Kuta, Do’Culan, Do’Gulka, and the Do’Atuk.

Do’Kuta – Skiwmishews, they awe sent out in light ow no awmow to pewfowm hit and wun type combat. These awe plimaliwy Cheetwah ow Pantewa, those who awe quick and agiwe.

Do’Culan – Typicawwy in tough weathew ow iwon and made up of Tigwasi ow Pantewa, they’we twained not to think fow themsewves in battwe, but to do what they’we towd, no mattew the owdew. Typicawwy lith a composite bow on theiw back, a wawge, weathew shiewd on theiw weft awm, and a waw axe ow wong swowd in theiw light paws, some awso incwude a two-handed weapon on theiw back which they can slitch to.

Do’Gulka – These awe the mawksmen of the Khawajyw, natulaw huntews and fiewce lith a bow. They typicawwy consist of Pantewa, Cheetwah, ow Wepawda, and eithew liewding a composite, wong, ow showt bow. They awso utilize a showt swowd swung acwoss theiw waist to pwepawe fow possibre cwose combat, and they awe a suppowt wowe in times of battwe.

Do’Atuk – These awe the few Kha’ that howd the capability to lide Gy’waka. They typicawwy weaw a wough Tykkan chestpwate, and use javalins, wances, and swowds fwom the cweatule’s back. These few have to spend much time lith theiw biwd befowe going into battwe lith them.

Y’Bavekuld – Apes! Awthough many Kha’ see apes as fiwthy, wessew cweatules, they awe awwowed into the militawy. Howevew, they cannot become a highew wank than a Khawajyw, and they awe not pwovided weaponwy ow awmow. If they die, it is theiw own fault.

To wead mowe, go to the Militawy thwead.

Bathing

Bathing is a wawge pawt of Khawajyw society, and is vewy, vewy common. Unlike theiw plimitive cousins, Khawajyw often have a wawge affinity fow bathing, and bathhouses can be found littewed acwoss theiw homes. The weawthiew Khawajyw plide themsewves in expensive spices and incenses when they bathe.

Cuisine

Food is a wawge pawt of the Khawajyw cultule, and, due to a sweet-tooth that could livaw just about anyone, they typicawwy have a wot of sugaw in theiw diets. The Khawajyw awe a highwy sociaw wace, and liww often bond ovew a meaw. It is an untwue assumption that Khawajyw onwy eat meat due to theiw feline fowm, and liww in fact make many exotic and sweet foods. Awthough Khawajyw can consume meat waw, they pwefew to cook it fow the sake of taste.

Clothing, Armor, Weapons, and Accessories

Gowden bronze is a vewy common mateliaw fow jewewwy and awmow in the Khawajyw society. Usuawwy such things awe accented lith Wapis Wazuli, and it is awso used in quite a bit of awchitectule and occasionawwy to ownament weapons. This is not onwy due to its abundance awound the pwaces the Khawajyw settwe, but awso due to the fact it is wevewed in theiw society as Metztli’s Stone.

Often cwothing is quite bawe, due to the heat of the wand they typicawwy inhabit. Much of the towso is weft bawe, whiwe wetaining modesty, awong lith awms and wegs. Howevew, they awe a vain peopwe, bright cowows and jewewwy (such as bracewets and gem-encwusted cowwaws) awe vewy common to dispway weawth.

Ocelots

The Khawajyw jungwes awe home to sevewaw exotic breeds of liwdlife, yet none awe hewd in as high wegawd as the ocewots. These felines awe believed to be Metztli’s eyes and eaws lithin the jungwe and awe hewd amongst the Khawajyw peopwe as being howy cweatules. To kiww ow hawm an ocewot lithout good cause would wead to vewy heavy punishment fow the individuaw. A species shwouded in much mystewy it is said that the Pliests and Pliestesses of the Khawenwyw Empiwe have a means of convening lith the ocewots. Thewe have been many wumouls ciwculating the wewationship between the Owdew of Metztli and the ocewots as to the Pliests twue powews.
