The Ironborn Invasion

It started when Dared Starbreaker and his clan founded a hold named Khaz'Ardol and rebelled against the Grand King Fimlin Grandaxe. This rebellion was fueled by the recent Undead reappearance and not too long after the Ironborn joined as well. Grand King Fimlin Grandaxe prepared for the war, the inner city of Kal'Agnar was fortified and the Grand Kingdom of Urguan was ready to withstand a siege. A treaty was reached between the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, The Holy Oren Empire, Laureh'lin, The Rexdom of Krugmar, and The Königsreich of Aesterwald which created a defensive pact between all the nations, primarily focused against the undead and named the Treaty of The Sun’s Smile 1476. The defense was setback however when an earthquake rocked the city not to long after and destroyed the defenses. With little time to prepare the dwarves scrambled together a repaired version although a much less efficient version of the previous defense system. This proved to be fatal in the survival of Kal'Agnar, as a weak spot unearthed by the quake in the King's bedroom was blown apart by explosives and flooded by undead cultists and Ironborn warriors. The remaining forces that were pushed back were deprecated into the four balconies overlooking the main hall, and with no way to connect to each other they were eventually pushed out entirely and the city was lost.

The remaining dwarves who followed the Grand Kingdom fled into the Irongut hold of Hiebenhall where they took refuge. From Hiebenhall The Grand Kingdom regathered its forces and gained greater support from the Orenian Emperor Tuvya Carrion (Tobias I, Holy Orenian Emperor). A strike raid on the former Legion barracks was performed and a high-ranking Ironborn officer was slain, but the group was forced to retreat after being discovered.

Having regathered its forces, The Grand Kingdom marched to successfully retake Kal'Agnar. With Kal'Agnar virtually destroyed, Grand King Fimlin ordered the construction of Kal'Karaad based on what he had seen in the Halls of Urguan. The project was led by Balek Irongut and assisted by Fimlin Grandaxe. The construction was productive until Thane Lori Ireheart vetoed the design for the throne room which halted construction, the throne room was never finished in the end.
