Inferi are creatures driven only by power. They come in many different corrupted forms, but have commonalities of horns, wings, tails, and other such animalistic features. Most inferi were once mortals, either being brought to Moz Strimoza by being picked of Ebrietaes by Ixli or Ikuras or being turned by black sorcery such as Naztherak, they are corrupted souls by the maleus, the manifestation of chaos in the form of energy.[1]

When inferi perish perish somewhere outside of Moz Strimoza, their corpse is left behind but their soul returns, manifesting in fertile ash. Malflame can revive this, but only if the ashes are whole. Should ashes scatter, they can be revived as lesser inferi, with less memories and identity of their previous form. Gatrov, while not technically part of the inferi hierarchy, are still infernal beings.

Hierarchy

The hierarchy of the inferi has lesser inferi at its bottom, with greater inferi above that, and Ixris, the Red Prince, Iblees' patron at the top. By feasting on each other, consuming soul essence that is usually corrupted by Maleus in the form of Rakir, they can climb the hierarchy.

Lesser Inferi

Zevn

Zevn, also known as Imps, are the lowest form of sentient Inferi. They can be sized anywhere between sprites and small goblins, their strength matching this. Their intelligence has a similar range, ranging from brutish to cunning.[1]

Imps typically roam in hordes to make up for their strength, while some find themselves in the possession of higher inferi. Zevn without a pact have a love for bargaining, trickery and taboo exchanges. Almost all intelligent Zevn will try to gather enough maleus to grow up in the Inferi hierarchy.

Striith

Striith are a subspecies of Zevn that align themselves beneath Zar'rokul and Zar'kiel, letting go of their free will to be immortalized in the shape of an animal from the mortal plane to their master's preference. A more common name for Striith among the mortal realm is a familiar. Striith in animal form can retain their sentience and grow beyond their former cognitive capacity.

Zekul

Zekul, also known as beasts, are Inferi that have started to climb the infernal hierarchy and have evolved past their former form as a Zevn, often at cost of their mental ability.[1]

The size of a Zekul can be anywhere between a goblin and a horse. They are by nature bestial and at times resemble animals. They have an immense boost of strength over Zevn, though this comes at the expense of cognitive function. Zekul are not capable of speaking, except for an occasional grunt of Ilzakarn. Zekul work either in packs or as lone hunters, commonly used as pets and mounts by higher inferi. They make up the bulk of the wilderness's population in Moz Strimoza and often lose themselves to their animalistic instincts, having a hard time climbing the infernal hierarchy without the help of sentient inferi.

Zezimar

Zezimar, also known as Zar'ei, are the most descendant like Inferi in Moz Strimoza. Wrathful mages, dark shamans, witches, and warlocks may find themselves reborn as Zezimar.[1]

Zezimar are always humanoid, sizing from humans to orcs with their strength representing this. They are at an equivalent or slightly higher level than living descendant souls. They are no longer capable of holding a Voidal Connection or a Deific Connection, but they possess as much or more mana as they did in life and are capable of spell casting, often in the form of Dark Magic, such as Naztherak and Blood Magic.

Greater Inferi

Zar'akal

Zar'akal are hybrids of Descendants and Inferi, born of Naztherak. They are native to the material plane and have similar capabilities as Zezimar. They have immunity of being knocked down in the inferi hierarchy.[1]

Zar'akal are effectively immortal, as they are capable of manifesting on the material plane after most instances of bodily destruction. They can also, unlike Zezimar, hold a Voidal Connection or a Deific Connection, though the deity needs to tolerate them.

Zar'kiel

Zar'kiel are the highest form descendant-soul Inferi can achieve. They are monstrous in size and are beyond the capabilities of a lone Naztherak or Zezimar. They tend to practice an array of black magics. Only few from the mortal plane directly become Zar'kiel. Examples include descendants with more soul essence than a single descendant, such as Apparitions, Wights or those who practices Fi'hiiran'tanya or Ish’urkal.[1]

Zar'rokul

Zar'rokul are the five ruling Inferi of Moz Strimoza, and have yet to be dethroned. They are fallen Drakaar and Dragaar who have come to conquer Moz Strimoza.[1]

Their past lives mean little to the Zar'rokul, instead being mere lessons to inform their new eternal mission, being the throttling of Creation and the savoring of it.
