Half-breeds are peoples who have emerged as having a collective identity after being born from two different races. While the child of two parents of any race could technically be called a half-breed, official half-breeds are only recognized when a group of them has organized into a collective unit. Often confused with sub-races, the main difference is that Half-breeds have two parent races while sub-races emerge within a race. Half-breeds are descendants of their bloodline while modern combinations of two races are not half-breeds and will not reflect these characteristics. Modern half-bloods are often more susceptible to sickness and health conditions and sometimes a grotesque mix of the physical attributes of both parent races.

Also to note is that Half-breeds will be affected by both the curses given by Iblees of their parent races, and that half-breeds tend to inherit the negative traits rather than the positive ones, so that a half-orc, half-elf will take on both curses, be the size of an Elf, with smaller tusks and a less pronounced skin tone than an Orc.

Adunians

Adunians have their roots in both the Human and Elven races. Harren, a son of Horen, and his followers settled in the Northern regions of Aegis, where a wood elf tribe had also settled. Soon, a feud broke out between the two groups causing a long and deadly war, which ended in a peace where Harren married the leader of the wood elf tribe, Sarai. The many members of Harren's tribe and the wood elf tribe followed suit and intermingled. Through generations of this intermingling it created a unique half-breed and culture that now exist. Adunians are typically prideful and stubborn, with muscled bodies that are slightly above the average human height. Their facial features usually represent those of humans and usually do not have pointed ears. As affect of the cross-breeding done many generations ago, Adunians have less-fertility than humans, but also live longer than humans, some reaching the age of 180 years old. Adunians are earthy and semi-nomadic, having had to relocate many times throughout various realms. There are many cultural customs such as following the northern religion of a triple pantheon form of religion known as the Old Faith or the True Faith, a spirit for battle and drinking.

Halflings

Halflings were once considered to be a sub-race of the Humans, the Halflings have long disassociated themselves from their Human kin. Short in stature and large of foot, the Halflings tend to stick together in their own settlements, avoiding traveling and the bustle of the big cities, and enjoy the foods and ales they make. These peaceful people avoid combat and make excellent farmers, cooks and herbalists. Originally Halflings were the children of Humans and Dwarves. They are quite merry folk and reside in the valley inside the little town known as Summerset Shire.

Mistaken Half-breeds

Forest Dwarves are sometimes referred to as Half-breeds, as it is occasionally thought that they emerged from a union of Dwarves and Elves. The origins of the Forest Dwarves are murky and not entirely known, but there is no evidence to support this claim.

There is an old rumour that Goblins are the children of Elves and Orcs, given their Orcish physical nature but increased intelligence. This does not appear to be true, and they are considered an essential part of Orcish society.

It is debatable whether or not the Doomforge should be considered a Half-breed. While they did come from two parent races, they only emerged near the end of Aegis. Most Half-breeds have developed over centuries with cultural and physical changes emerging as a result.
