Remus Godfrey Cascadia, regally known as Godfrey II (1709–present day) was the first Holy Orenian Emperor following the dissolution of the Empire of Renatus and the reformation of the Holy Orenian Empire at the end of the War of Two Emperors. His rise to power is notable due to the fact that it was soon followed by the aforementioned war, which he would go on to win.

Biography

Early life

The Emperor spent the majority of his childhood, initially, within the walls of Curon. The youth was notably absent from the courts of the Rubrummagnus, Helena. Due to this, his ascendance to Emperor came as a surprise to many within the city, though he attained the backing of the Imperial Privy.

Reign

Godfrey initially assumed position as the Imperator of Renatus 1715 on the 4th of Horen’s Calling. his ascension to the throne was in an unstable period of humanity as Joseph Marna rallied Haeseni, Adrian, and Curonian forces with the intention of rebellion against the Renatian crown. The sudden ascension of the adolescent to the throne spurred the plot forward, officially sparking War of Two Emperors.

Godfrey had opted to not assume the title of Emperor of Man; rather, he chose to be declared the Emperor of Renatus due to the divisions between human states. The War of Two Emperors was one of the largest conflicts in recent history and was the primary concern for Godfrey and his council.

In his reign, his subjects blatantly and fiercely followed him in faith. The Majority of the War of Two Emperors boasted propaganda and war documentations that illustrated a fervent dedication to his name. Though he was absent for the majority of his reign in the latter years, the dedication inspired by his name remained impressive in history.

The War of Two Emperors

Godfreys’ Empire was vastly outnumbered in the conflict as all of the old enemies that Renatus had once conquested joined the alter-imperator (other Emperors) cause. Yet, this was no set-back for a nation known for its martial prowess; The start of the war was studded with countless Renatian victories on the field such as the Battle of Leuven and the Battle of Lower Rodenbourg.

The primary offensive occurred during the earlier half of 1716 in which Joseph of Marna marched his army into Helena, the capital under-going siege. The outcome of the battle was a pyrrhic Renatian victory despite their evident lack of men in comparison to the Orenian Cavalry. They managed to safeguard the city, such leading the forces of Joseph I to withdraw.

The siege had a devastating effect on morale, with the Kingdom of Curon being the first to leave the Orenian alliance. Then followed the Republic of Ves, and the Renatian focus shifted to the Kingdom of Haense.

Godfrey continued to pursue the war on Haense after the dissolution of Oren, with no support left for the weak Kingdom they quickly succumbed to a high multitude of losses. With an increasing pressure placed on to the newly crowned King of Haense, there was not much he could do to save his Kingdom rather than to indulge in a secret meeting with the Emperor.

In 1721, terms were reached between the two parties in which resulted in Haense re-vassalising underneath the Emperor and ceding large swathes of land to the victors, thus resulting in the end of the Haeseni rebellion and concluding the War of Two Emperors in a decisive win. The period of turbulence and violence would end through the defeat of the false Emperor and Haense.

Holy Orenian Emperor

Following the War of Two Emperors, Godfrey was called to a meeting dubbed “The Council of Founders”, a culmination of this meeting decreed that the Kingdom of Renatus would be disbanded, replaced by the Kingdom of Cascadia. This was put in to full effect alongside his own decision to reform the 8th Empire as the Holy Orenian Emperor, severing ties and association with the former Renatus-core of the 7th Empire.

After an extended pilgrimage upon the continent of Aeldin, Godfrey would abdicate his titles to his younger brother, John VII, Holy Orenian Emperor
