Early Life

Formative Years

Ehrendil Yerdiyl was born to two unknown Mali'ame in a small settlement just before the migration to Almaris. Not much is known about his birth parents as he never knew them, and the parents he did know were bartenders by trade. At a young age he began working at the bar, and consequentially, he became skilled at bartending. When Ehrendil turned twenty his mother gave him a flower crown and bid him farewell from the village he had migrated to on Almaris, and he head to the the Wood Elven capital - Amaethea.

Arrival to Elvenesse

Upon arrival to Elvenesse Ehrendil immediately fell under the employ of one Aerilith Oakenarrow the proprietor of the bar there, after expressing his expertise in brewing and serving alcoholic beverages. At the same time, the flower crown he bore gained the interest of one Briar Taliame'onn, who was in the process of rebuilding the seed in the stead of her chief. That same day, as fate would have it, he also met Rylleah ap Tahorran - who would become important later. It was not long before Ehrendil had joined the Taliame'onn, being a perfect fit as he enjoyed artistry and loathed fighting in any kind of way. While he conducted his trials for the Taliame'onn, love blossomed between himself and Rylleah, and they became lovers. Ehrendil quickly became one of the more prominent and well known Taliame'onn due to his antics around the city, for better or worse. Things were heating up as the Taliame'onn rerose into the public sphere and in doing so, had garnered some unwanted attention.

The Taliame'onn tribe, along with Rylleah, were sitting at the campfire one fateful day when a certain 'ame accosted them, calling them derogatory remarks and saying that they were useless. Ehrendil, despite having little training in the ways of fighting at this time, approached that 'ame and challenged him to an honor duel. This challenged gathered a lot of attention and nearly twenty bystanders watched on as this confrontations heated to the point of violence, as it was a rare spectacle in Elvenesse at the time. It turned out that 'ame Ehrendil challenged was one of the best fighters in the city - and Ehrendil was beaten horribly - only garnering three strikes on his opponent while his opponent got twenty or more. He was carried back to his seed home with his family, battered, defeated, and unable to really move on his own.

Fate had other plans for Ehrendil, as one Belestram Sylvaeri had noticed Ehrendil's fiery spirit (and he had even bet mina on him winning during the fight) and followed the family back to their home where he approached Ehrendil with a proposition. To come speak with him once Ehrendil had healed. Ehrendil did so and in doing so, accidently found himself being inducted into the elite royal guard of the Sylvaeri, known as the Oathblades. Things quickly sped up for the young Taliame'onn, he gathered his friend and mentor (and eventually adopted father) - Emanaf Delseran - to teach him how to fight and spent many years practicing his own version of fighting that used unpredictable movements to gain an advantage over his opponent. As well as learning to use strange weapons - one of which would become the staple of his, the lead pipe. His fiery spirit burst aflame and he set a new goal for himself, to become the Shield of his city.

He eventually met Onas Vuln'miruel and a rivalry began to form, Ehrendil had received his first loss to Onas in a sparring match. Shortly after that event, Belestram announced there would be a new Oathblade, and it was none other than Onas. Ehrendil, Onas and Rylleah (who was still Ehrendil's lover) were formed into the next generation of Oathblades and became a team, to be sent on missions by the former High Prince for the good of the people of Elvenesse.

Oathblade Career

The First Mission

The first major mission the team received was to investigate, capture or kill a rogue mage known as Ainz. He was believed to be connected to some strange happenings in Elvenesse that included deformed and diseased creatures. The team set off to Sutica where it was reported that Ainz had a liar somewhere deep inside the sewers. They travelled within, stepping over rats, mice, swimming in the muck and eventually found a strange door that led them into a perturbing laboratory that was clearly marked as Ainz's; on the ground was a strange summoning circle that none of the members could identify. They gathered what evidence they could and returned to Elvenesse where Belestram informed them of developments in the case would not require the assistance or hunting of Ainz anymore. Regardless of that, Ehrendil remained on Ainz's case for some time as he was courting Nemea, Ehrendil's seed sister at the time and would go on to be with Briar Taliame'onn. Though, eventually, without any more evidence, the Ainz case fell through as other matters took precedence. The team helped minorly with the continued issue of the deformed and diseased animals within the Elvenessi lands, but it was eventually resolved by Druids and things for the Oathblades were mostly quite. There were a few Orcish raids in which Ehrendil participated and won medals for during this time, where he protected the royals and the people of Elvenesse.

Disintegration of the Oathblade Team

After some time the team of Oathblades decided it was time to go celebrate- they ended up in Norlandic Elysium's White Bear Tavern. It was there Onas admitted to Ehrendil that Rylleah had told him she wanted to kiss him - it caused quite the outrage, and Ehrendil and Rylleah subsequently broke off their courtship. As a consequence to her unfaithfulness, Ehrendil went to Belestram and had her disbarred from the Oathblades as she could be seen as untrustworthy to hold the greatest secrets of the Elven nation. Shortly after that, Onas and Ehrendil got into a large fight - which led Ehrendil to go to one Cullas, where things escalated to a trial against Onas for treason. Ehrendil has stretched the truth to see his former blood brother fall from grace and he could rise to power, and during the trial Onas voluntarily left the Oathblades and turned his back to Elvenesse as Ehrendil had planned. Shortly after the trial, the tragic death of Belestram Sylvaeri left the Oathblades in disarray - leaving the final standing man of the new generation of Oathblades as Ehrendil. Just after Belestram's death, Ehrendil also took part in hiding a certain child with his former ally Onas.

Princess Protection Program

Ehrendil took to protecting the princesses of the realm after the fall of the Oathblades as he knew them. He quickly became a common face before the princesses and during his tenure as a protector had saved Delmira Sylvaeri's life, garnering the appreciation of the (then) current High Prince Feanor Sylvaeri. From this appreciation and his dutiful service he was awarded the title that he had been aspiring toward since he joined the Oathblades - 'The Shield' - and he continued to serve the Sylvaeri clan for some time after his award. Though, things would not always go well for the young Ehrendil. He was young, foolish and hot-headed. Things deteriorated between himself and Delmira which caused her to advise her husband to release Ehrendil from duty and abolish his title. It was done and Ehrendil's life changed for the worse following those events.

Fall and Elven Exile

The Caerme'onn Trial

Some time had passed since his release from the Oathblades and Ehrendil was consistently up to no good at all times. After all, he had lost his title, his friends, his family and his honor. Nothing really mattered to him anymore at this point - he had adopted a little deaf girl known as Hui during this tumultuous period of his life, who he was raising with his former lover Rylleah, who was now also his seed sister due to his marrying of one Tahlia ap Tahorran in the not-so-distant past. It was through this that an event occurred in which Ehrendil walked upon Hui and a girl named Vinwe playing in the water - Vinwe had, in Ehrendil's eyes, attempted to drown Hui once before - and he witnessed something that seemed rather suspicious. He approached to warn the girl not to mess with his daughter, saying some unseemly things in his anger toward the girl. The situation over the coming days would escalate, and Vinwe's mother, Miven Caerme'onn would approach Ehrendil at the Tahorran docks with several of her seed members, with the intent of hauling him away for an unknown purpose. This outcome did not come to fruition, but instead escalated to a trial. Ehrendil lost the trial in the end and was whipped thirty times on the back as a punishment for his rage. He was also basically pseudo-exiled due to the shame and publicity that the trial had received. His wife, with direction from Ehrendil's mother, Briar, informed Ehrendil that she would be leaving him and taking their newborn baby two years after the trial. This sent Ehrendil into a spiral of pain and agony, causing him to leave the settlement he had called home for some thirty years and depart into the woods for a long period of time.

The Man in the Woods

Ehrendil would take his time going from village to village, drowning his sorrows and agony in alcohol and whatever woman would take him for the night for several weeks after his presumed exile. It was during this time where one of those women would fall pregnant with his eventual heir, Raell, unknown to him. After several weeks and months of binge drinking and horrible decisions Ehrendil took his leave from society all together and survived in the woods, hunting and fishing - building himself a small hut to survive in on the beaches far from Elvenesse. He survived there for some time, doing the same things over and over again for weeks and months, losing track of time and reality all together. He remained there until he felt he had healed and grown enough that he could properly apologize for his actions, and after some many years... returned to civilization to make amends.

Return to Society

The Search for his Family

Ehrendil returned to Elvenesse only to find out that it was not what it once was, a dragon had come and destroyed his former home- making it a shell of what he once called home. His family was not located there, in fact, hardly anyone was at all. It was revealed to him that most Wood Elves resided in a place known as 'The Vale' run by an acquaintance of his, Miven Caerme'onn. He thought surely that Tahlia and Emandriel were there, and his arrival there was not well recieved at all, but his questions were answered without conflict. His son was not located in their Grove, and so Ehrendil left without further incident. He travelled to find his old friend Eugeo, as perhaps he had the answers he was looking for. Elysium had moved and was now located in the west, he entered, not finding his old friend, or any friends really. He did find his adopted daughter- Solus. She informed him of the death of his mother, Briar and the death of his ex-wife, Tahlia. She also revealed the location of Emandriel (his son) to him, who he would go meet in the coming days. With his goal completed and happy to see his daughter, he travelled down into the undercity, into a bar that would change his fate forever.

The Monarch and his Butterfly

The Bar

Ehrendil entered the bar to find an old friend of his from a visit he took to Hae'lunor, Valindra, manning the bar. A sick twist of fate had occurred, and caused him to remain in the bar only to be challenged by a small human woman that overheard him speaking about his tattooing arts to Valindra. The deal was that if she beat him at darts, she would be taught Ehrendil's family's tattooing art, - if he won be tattooed by him with his choice of tattoo. The game of darts went on, and in the last round Ehrendil snuck his blindfold up and used this advantage to win the game in the last moment. The woman would be outraged and in a moment of kindness, Ehrendil would offer to act as if it were a tie. They went to the side room where Ehrendil began tattooing butterflies onto the stomach of the woman whose name he did not know, until she revealed that it was Leika De Astrea, daughter of Ehrendil's old friend Eugeo.

Time Seals All Wounds

Ehrendil, ever resistant to anything that he didn't like refused to acknowledge the feelings that Leika had grown to have over the time they spent together. By happenstance, Leika would show up in Ehrendil's life time and time again to the point where even Ehrendil, despite outwardly resisting her, would begin to grow feelings. It came to a head one day where Ehrendil gave his son his wedding ring and created a brooch using Tiva to express how he felt to Leika. Leika accepted the Bird of Paradise brooch (meaning joy) and their courtship started in secret. As terms for Ehrendil to court his daughter, the Duke of Elysium stipulated that Ehrendil had to serve as a diplomatic officer, and failure to do so would mean the courtship between himself and Leika would end. He abided by it. Leika came to be known as 'Butterfly' by Ehrendil, as butterflies represent the strings of fate and Leika had forever changed the path that Ehrendil would take. It was also during this time that Ehrendil began his tutelage to become a Druid under Aerendyl Hawksong and begin a new life of balance.

Diplomatic Service

The Guenevere Issue

Ehrendil took Leika with him to go visit his friend, Esmeralda Guenevere, at her manor. While there another individual with a large distain for Leika showed up and Ehrendil was called into a meeting with them in order to solve an issue. While in the meeting Leika was with two 'children' of Esmeralda's, it is unknown what the real story of what happened that day is, but Ehrendil returned to Leika being accused of things he didn't know she could do and the issue escalated to the point where Leika and Ehrendil were both required to leave. This event would have lasting impressions on the Mali'ame and his human lover. Word spread of the event to the Druidic Circles, and Ehrendil's reputation was horribly tarnished within for the rest of his days due to this. This also stopped all progress he made with the Vale due to his banishment. In turn he was promoted to top diplomat in Elysium. The Guenevere and Head of House Solros were exiled with the opportunity to appeal should they write a letter.

Orenian Paradise

His first day on the job had him ambushed by Orenians with a surprise meeting that he was ill prepared for. They seemed to want something from Ehrendil that he could not provide, but tactfully maneuvered the situation and provided the Orenians with an amicable deal so that they would continue to be benevolent toward Elysium while Elysium remained in their classic 'Switzerland'-like positioning. He was highly commended by all those involved for this particular event but things would only get darker the longer he remained as diplomat.

The STING

With the Guenevere and head of Clan Solros still at large, Ehrendil was busy at work trying to locate them so that they could either answer for their crimes of treason against Leika or their could be some sort of trial, or there would be a resolution to the conflict. He went to visit Liluth Solros with no intent to bring her in at the time in Vortice, only to find the Rex there who informed him of a woman who attempted to garner their support to destroy Elysium. Ehrendil quickly changed his tune and employed Gus and his son to help him bring her back to Vikela and enact justice. Ehrendil entered and began speaking to her, allowing her to beleive that he was acting out of pocket and out of line in a foreign country, only to have her scream for help. Help came, or so she thought, Gusiam and his son barged through the door 'apprehending' Ehrendil and when she smirked at him, thinking she had won... Gusiam hit her in the head and Ehrendil revealed the true ploy. That he doesn't lose. She was dragged back to Elysium, and as Head Foreign Minister, Ehrendil was forced to enact justice - swiftly executing her with his own blade.

Orcish Troubles

Things were heating up in the west and Ehrendil was well aware that their Orcish neighbors were eying up Elysium. There was a summit in which Elvenesse and the Orcs came to the castle of Elysium, while Ehrendil and the Rex talked things out, violence broke out below them in the ballroom. Unknown to Ehrendil or the Rex until the talks were complete. Obviously upset, the Rex called Ehrendil to the Rexdom and Ehrendil had to scramble to make amends, lest war break out. Ehrendil agreed to the Rex's terms and went on a hunt for a minotaur, which Ehrendil had a rather large part in slaying. Upon defeating it, Ehrendil was given a proposition to give up an eye or an arm and the peace treaty would be signed. Ehrendil gave up his right eye and received one from the minotaur. That is how the Pact of the Minotaur came to be.

Some time passed and the eye that maintained the treaty began to rot out, as the shaman that gave it to him was exiled. There was another summit at the RExdom in which the dwarves were present for- Ehrendil was busy and sent Frisket Monet instead. He arrived late and Frisket's negotiations had left Ehrendil in a particularly bad spot, not that they were in a good one to begin with. The Rex took the eye from Ehrendil's head and ate it. The Rex was originally going to let them go but instead said the Spirits required their blood- he spared Ehrendil for second, chopping Frisket Monet in half before him so that he might remember how harshly he failed. Ehrendil, thinking quickly, challenged the Rex to an honor duel. The Rex sent a dwarf to do the job and Ehrendil lost, losing an ear but his life was spared. Battered and bruised he was returned to Elysium's gates as a declaration of war.

Reign

Marriage

With the fear of impending death on their minds Leika and Ehrendil had decided that they would have a 'crossbow wedding', in which they would go to Ehrendil's Druidic tree, dutifully named Leika Two by Leika during his trials. In the Hermit Grove that lay mostly abandoned a few of their close friends would appear to witness a mercenary known as Raja wed the soon-to-be Queen and the bartender. This marriage would be their first, unofficial wedding that was not known to the larger public. Their true (public) wedding did not happen until long after the orc war and far into their relationship.

The War

The Orc War saw the Orenian allies join Elysium in a bid to help protect it, but the war was long and arduous, hard on the Elysian people. Ehrendil helped his wife in what he could due to his experience in the Oathblades, but when it came down to it, the Orcs - with backup from other major powers, had the advantage in the war and Elysium was bleeding supplies, troops, and money like they'd been stabbed in the chest. The battles and war raged on and Ehrendil fought as a commander in most of the battles at hand, but after suffering hefty losses, the Elysian capital was seized and ransacked. In an odd twist of fate, Malinor stepped in and put an end to it - escalating the conflict to the Malinor-Orc war. Many people in Elysium lost limbs, Leika included, and Ehrendil was able to evade losing any major body parts in the actual war part of the war. After the war, with the city burned to bits, Ehrendil was relieved to know that, hopefully, he would not have to fight another war for some time. He simply had other obligations that would soon pop up as Leika had been escalated from heir to Queen prior to the Orcish War starting.

Losing Druidism

The events of him losing his Druidism are but a mystery - it was just after the Orcish war that he was stripped of them. All he knows is that his actions during the Orcish war and his conflicts as a King and Diplomat caused him to in some way be deemed unfit to be a Druid.

Elysium's Change

It was at this point after the war that Leika decided to go under the banner of Celia'nor, and with that Ehrendil lost his title of King. Once this had happened, Ehrendil informed his wife that he would no longer be considering himself of the duties of the leader or one of the leaders of Elysium. He was going into retirement.

Retirement

A New Daughter

Ehrendil's daughter from before, who he did not know of previously, appeared in Vikela and claimed to be his kin. Her name was Raell and she knew nothing of Wood Elven culture. She did not wish for Ehrendil to be a father if he didn't want to but after the death of his eldest son and realizing all children deserve to have a good father, he proceeded to accept her and begin to teach her the ways of the Taliame'onn, and of the Wood Elf.

Owynism

Seeking a change following the loss of his Druidism, Ehrendil went to his old friends at the Lectorate and began his trials to become an Owynist. Tutored by Aelia, the only other elf there, he found himself engrossed in an entirely new culture and made friends with the Lectorate as he opened his mind to new ideals and finally found some form of happiness in a place where he was accepted. Though, unfortunately, once his trials were done and his teacher and friend became less and less frequently seen, he strayed from his new Owynist path and veered back onto the one that he had previously followed as he was the only Wood Elf in the city of Vikela that could teach the new generation about Aspectism.

Alchemy

Ehrendil found an odd Adunian woman that found him interesting in Haense and she evenetually ended up coming to Vikela upon Ehrendil's request. Much to Ehrendil's surprise, she offered to teach him Alchemy - something he had secretly ben searching for since his loss of Druidism. The training he underwent was intense, as it was a foreign world to him but eventually it came to fruition and even further down the road, he became a teacher himself. honoring the mysterious Adunian woman that taught him and then dissappeared.

Becoming Chief

It came to be that the chief of the Taliame'onnn, Melawen forewent her post and Ehrendil was the next logical successor tot he title as he was the eldest living member of the Taliame'onn that still claimed the surname. Ehrendil accepted the position and began to rebuild the clan and that is how he spend his retirement.
