The County of Sarissa was a semi-independent vassal state of Sutica, and was formerly ruled by the House of Buckfort. It was founded by Countess Ivarielle and ruled by her until the House of Buckfort peacefully took over the title after Ivarielle's extended absence. The current state of Sarissa rests upon the Island of Sarissa, directly east of the current capital of Sutica. Its inhabitants became the founders of the Kingdom of Rozania, and many believe it to be Sarissa's successor-state after the County was burned down.

History

Sarissa was first founded by a woman named Ivarielle and was built upon the Island directly east of the capital of Sutica, the capital of the new County becoming the town of Brynrose. The town was rather isolated at the time, having no connections to the mainland. Therefore, Sarissa grew distant from Sutican politics and even threatened to declare independence multiple times under the first countess.

Following the overthrow of Princess Gwynevere during the Third Coup of Sutica, Ivarielle was also peacefully removed from power by Ser William Buckfort, also known as the Jackalope Knight. William was made the new Count of Sarissa and quickly swore an oath of fealty to the new King Georg of Sutica. From there, Sarissa saw a considerable boom in population which was only increased by the establishment of the Pierwsza Kompania Sarzycka (also known as the PKS), which was created and headed by Oisin O'Breathnach Buckfort, the bastard son of William Buckfort. This new Guard force only served to increase the popularity of Sarissa, as many people flooded to the Island to serve in the PKS when word of an Anti-Canonist revolt in the Sarissan countryside became public. This conflict served as a test for the newly established PKS, which was able to quickly score its first victory over the rebels in the Battle of the Mythos Plains under the leadership of Oisin.

After tensions arose between the County of Sarissa and the Red Company over conflict between the Red Company and the Barony of the Rhein, and the Red Company supposedly committing crimes in the Barony, Oisin Buckfort brought a member of the Red Company to trial for his involvement. This trial, and later guilty verdict, enraged the members of the Red Company. The Red Company immediately fled Sarissa and took refuge within the lands of the Rustlers where they made preparations to take revenge against the County of Sarissa. After gaining the support of the Rustler bosses, a combined force of 1,000 Rustlers and Red Company members marched south to launch a raiding campaign against Sarissa and the Rhein. Count William, anticipating a battle, was able to mend relations with the Rhein due to the help of Carlos Mendez. This mending of relations helped significantly, as the patriarch of the Redfist Clan, Kane Redfist, contributed a significant amount of men to the Sarissan cause. The County of Sarissa and the Barony of the Rhein were able to jointly raise an army of 2,100 men and marched from their respective lands to hopefully meet the Rustlers in a decisive battle. After both armies had marched further south into the Kharasi desert, the two armies met outside the City of Osanora and engaged in a battle which became known as the Battle of the Kharasi Oasis. The Sarissan and Rhein forces, despite taking heavy casualties, emerged victorious in the battle.

Following a disagreement between William Buckfort and the crown of Sutica, William renounced his oath to Sutica and as such he prepared to move his family and followers away from Sarissa and found a new Kingdom all on their own. After burning Brynrose and much of old Sarissa, the Buckfort Family and the Sarissans departed to settle the Kingdom of Rozania.
