A force comprised of Ferrymen and soldiers of the Kingdom of Norland struck into the territory of the Holy Orenian Empire. Two hundred Imperial soldiers were taken by surprise as the raiders made their way to Providence, to invite the Imperial Army to fight them. After the Imperial State Army refused to engage the raiders, four hundred soldiers from the Orenian Ministry of Justice left Providence on their own accord to meet with the Ferrymen, looking to disperse the gathering on the bridge to Providence.

After a short battle in which the four hundred Ministry forces were killed, two prominent members of the Ministry of Justice were captured. A canonist priest was given safe passage to give them their last rites, after which the Ministry members were summarily hung from the bridge, thus dubbing the bridge leading to Providence the Bloody Bridge by the Norlandic Forces. The Priest returned safely to Providence.

Prelude

An Orenian scouting party comprised of two hundred Imperial State Army soldiers was dispatched to investigate the Norlandic Host on the bridge leading to Providence. The Ferrymen in response dispatched two hundred men to capture the Imperial State Army scouts. The small skirmish ended with the Norlandic counter-reconnaissance party killing all Orenian Scouts.

Battle

The Norlandic Host heard a call from a scout of four hundred Orenian Ministery of Justice were outside the walls of Providence and that they were to be captured. The attacking force of Norlanders, comprised of one thousand one hundred soldiers, surrounded the Ministry of Justice soldiers and gave them the opportunity to hand over their commanding officer. The Ministry of Justice soldiers refused and prepared for the fighting. The Norlandic and Orenian Forces then clashed, the Orenians retreating up the stairs to the gates of Providence but many fell before being able to enter. Two hundred Orenians perished or went missing and another two hundred were captured. Those captured were brought to the bridge to Providence to be held.

Aftermath

The Norlandic and Ferrymen soldiers called for a Priest of the Church of the Canon to perform the last rites for the captured Ministry of Justice soldiers before they were hung from the bridge, giving the battle its name. Shortly after the battle, Orenian officials put up a notice, telling their citizens and soldiers "Ferrymen are at the bridge. If you go out we will not help."
