The Battle of Jornheim fields was the first conflict in the brief war near the end of Axios known as the War of the Beards. This battle saw the Kingdom of Kaz'Ulrah once more unite the Coalition in order to engage the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and its allies in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and Holy Orenian Empire. The battle ended as a key victory for the Coalition, setting them on the path of the next battle, the Siege of Fort Kovakirr.

Prelude

With war declared between the Kingdom of Kaz'Ulrah and Grand Kingdom of Urguan, Oren and Haense sent in their troops to support the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Seeing this as an act of Orenian Imperialism, Santegia and Norland sent their troops in, in turn, to provide support to the Kingdom of Kaz'Ulrah. As troops poured in, armies began to mobilize. Once all the troops had arrived, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and their allies began the march towards Kaz'Ulrah. Shortly after this, the Coalition began its march to meet Urguan and its allies in the field.

Battle

The battle began as both armies marched down the main road, the army of the Coalition attempting to reach the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and the army of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and its allies attempting to reach the Kingdom of Kaz'Ulrah. Knowing that the Coalition's army was nearing, the army of Urguan and its allies set up on top of a low hill, which then led up to a much larger mountain. The vanguard of the Coalition was the first to find this army, and skirmishing soon began. Shots of bows and crossbows were soon exchanged from across the field, with no side holding any real advantage. A few detachments of the vanguard also rushed the hill, briefly engaging the enemy to inflict minor losses, before retreating. The army stood firm, however, until the Coalition's cavalry closed in, and thew many vials of Alchemist's Fire into their ranks, forcing Urguan and its allies off the hill and into a charge.

While most of this army stayed near the base of the hill, some spread out and surged forward in order to engage the vanguard of the Coalition. This, combined with the cavalry, began inflicting losses on the vanguard, which mainly consisted of the more lightly armored infantry, and thus was outclassed by the main body of Urguan's army an its allies. However, this soon shifted as the Coalition's main body had caught up with the vanguard. The main body, consisting of heavily armored men, easily rushed cut down the spread out men as they rushed forward to the aid of the vanguard. These men, along with the main body of the cavalry, mostly either ran from the battle or rushed back to reunite with the main army.

As they reached the main force of Urguan and its allies, the army of the Coalition with their heavier armor began to easily began cut through the bulk of Urguan's army. Coming to the realization that they would not be able to go toe-to-toe with the bulk of the Coalition army, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and its allies began retreating from the field of battle. While some were cut down as they attempted to flee, the Coalition was hindered by the fact that their army's heavier armor slowed them down. With the vanguard too tired and beaten down to properly give chase, the army of the Coalition was forced to end the chase and regroup.

Aftermath

Following this battle, the Coalition enjoyed a boost in morale, knowing that they still had the strength within them to take on Oren and its allies. Despite losing, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan was determined that they would continue to resist the Kingdom of Kaz'Ulrah in an effort to stop them from gaining ground. Preparations began outside of one of the forts belonging to the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska to prepare for an oncoming siege, which would eventually lead to the Siege of Fort Kovakirr.
