Appearance

The Balam Ha are one of the unique creatures that are exclusive to the Duulgador island. A herbivore armed with a horn and a beak, these strangely coloured scavengers are known to spear predators, aiming to knock them over before finishing them off with a powerful bite to the neck or vitals. The Balam Ham though not particularly fast, can eventually outpace horses with their hoof like legs and strong endurance. Its red and green markings make it blend into thick jungles among the flowers and bushes, making them hard to spot in between all the life within. The bones of the Balam Ha are particularly sought after by shamans as they burn a strange green glow, much like the Balam Ha’s skin colour. Its hides are also sought after for ceremonial robes with its resplendent colour.

Behavior

The Balam Ha mark their territory with scratches from their horn on to nearby trees, rubbing off their scent to ensure competitors stay away. Though they are sometimes seen in a herds of twos and threes, the Balam Ha rarely works together, though the male will return to their dug out nest either within a cavern or in a ditch, for their offsprings and mates. They mate once a year, whenever food is plentiful, and are known to produce 3-4 cubs. The females are quite similar to the males, except with a brown and grey coating to match the colours of their homes, and weighing a bit less.

Weaknesses

The Balam Ha has sometimes been known as the fearsome flower, with its flattened and fanned out neck carapace used to deflect oncoming force after ramming something. Though fast and strong, the Balam Ha’s vision is rather poor, making it a great hunt for groups of orcish cubs to foster their teamwork.
