Augustina Therosia Novellen (Common: Augusta Theresa), is the third-born daughter of John I, King of Balian, and his consort Gwyneth of Karosgrad. She was engaged and married to the Prince of Sedan in 1885, serving as the Princess for 4 years before her husband's tragic accident. Later, she would divorce him and a year after, she would return to the desert and marry her childhood love Peter d'Arkent, Count of Salia. After which she'd take up her older sister's responsibility within the court of her brother, King Alexander I, and help raise the next generation of royals while hosting lavish events.

Augustina Therosia Novellen was born in 1863 in the Augustine Palace, Providence, being the middle child of five. Six years after her birth, her father would campaign as the Duke of Balian and move her entire family into the desert. She was largely ignored due to her older brother and sister hogging the spotlight in her childhood. However, she would be fairly educated and properly educated in all the right manners. Many servants recalled her as a lovely, yet greedy girl. She had an affinity for pretty items, retaining almost eight tiaras before she was 10.

She would aid in the creation of the Courts of Monterosa, albite it was in a small manner. Furthermore, she would attend most of her father's political meetings as he hoped she would understand the importance of alliances along with her attendance at minor dances, weddings, and battles. Due to how public her childhood became compared to her elder sister who sat most days studying, she would become favored of the pair with many thinking of her as the eldest sibling.

Betrothal and Marriage

In 1884, Augustina's father would ask her to accept a betrothal to the Crown Prince of Sedan, Joseph de Joannes, as a part of a treaty signed between Sedan and Balian [1]. Soon after, she would find herself visiting the courts of Sedan only to have an attempt made against her life. She was shot in the chest, almost dying, but managed to pull through with the aid of the Lectors of Owyn [2]. She would consider this a sign of her upcoming marriage, confiding in her sisters how she thought it a curse.

Yet, in 1885, Princess Augustina would walk down the aisle with her father in the same gown worn by her mother during her father's wedding. Onlookers threw white roses at the pair as they left the newly constructed city of Joannesport to honeymoon in the de Joannes home. No less than a year later, the pair's first children were born. A pair of beautifully healthy twin girls nicknamed the 'Goat' twins to all those who lived in the principality. She and Joseph would have four more kids between the years 1888-1892, two girls and two boys. The heir, Robert Therosius, would have a large festival hosted in his honor. One would note that she would become a princess of Balian in the year 1888 once her father finally won kingship.

Reign as Princess of Sedan

Augustina's reign as Princess Consort would begin in the year 1890 when her husband would be crowned Joseph I, Prince of Sedan. They would not be coronated, considering her husband's rule was less than four years. During her time as consort, she'd take her learnings as a child with the Monterosa Court, and apply them to the Sedanite Court. Under her, it would flourish and bloom with great success. Not only did the courts grow, but the education of children became a very central issue for which she'd advocate feverishly.

During the next four years, she and her ladies would host a few balls and many tea parties, celebrating gossip, children, birthdays, etc. Augustina would always find reasons to reward herself with fancy trinkets, fancy foods, and silky gowns. When people spoke up about her spending habit, she would snap back and claim it was her right. This, plus her otherwise demanding attitude would garner her the nickname "The Snapdragon Princess". Then in 1894, her husband would abdicate the throne to his sons who were too young to rule and needed regents. Augustina, sadly, was not elected as one and was pushed from the palace as her husband was missing. Eventually, she would escape a divorce in 1895 and return home.

As Augustina returned to her childhood dukedom which had become a kingdom in the late years of 1888. Much of what she recognized had changed, even though it had only been four years. The one face she knew though, was that of the, at the time Viscount, Peter d'Arkent. The two had mingled as children, however considering both were left unwed, they rekindled what was lost and fell in love. No, later than a year after her divorce did she marry Peter d'Arkent, many considering it a clad scandal of the highest degree. She would be walked down the aisle by her father once more, wearing a new gown designed by Lady Nikoleta Baruch.

A year after their wedding, the fruits of their labor were delivered and an heir to Salia was born. She would go on to have three more kids with Viscount Peter. Between her pregnancies, she'd once more become involved in the Monterosa Count, this time serving as the governess of the great establishment. Sadly, tragedy struck when her father would pass from old age in the year 1900. Almost immediately, her older brother was coronated in which she would serve an important role as his last publically seen sibling.

Augustina would go on to reform the courts, making a system of working etiquette and manners that hoisted Balian to be the most regal of the human kingdoms, surpassing the slowly dying courts of Hanseti-Ruska. She would later enjoy her eldest son, Roberts, rise to power as the Prince of Sedan under the Kingdom of Aaun and become a grandmother, which is recorded to be her proudest achievement yet.

Tiara Collection

One of the most infamous facts about Princess Augustina is her collection of tiaras, circlets, and diadems which was scribed and written by the Duchess of Adria, Austina Sarkozic, in the year 1888. Since then, her collection has grown with almost 10 more pieces being added [3].
