Alisa Camian was the High Keeper of the Red Faith during the reign of Caedric Edvardsson, Halvar Edvardsson, and during Sven II's reign, retiring upon his death. alisa is considered the foremost authority within the religion. She has held the position of High Keeper for over fifty years. Alisa is also chieftain of Clan Camian, which rose to the rank of Great Clan under her leadership.

History

Early Life

Alisa was born on a rural farmstead in the year 1730 FA, with little being known about her early life, save for the fact that she had a fairly secluded upbringing. At the age of twenty, she moved to the city of Morsgrad, where she was initiated into the Red Faith’s clergy by her predecessor, Solvi Faretto, while also acting as a public face for the Brotherhood of the Flame, an order of devout Red Faith mercenary-knights. A few years into Alisa’s fledgling career, however, High Keeper Solvi was slain by an assassin, leaving the position vacant for a period of some few years. With the Faith lacking present and qualified Keepers, Alisa’s promotion was then expedited, and she was officially ordained as a Keeper in 1753 FA by Keeper and, at the time, Regent Chadmyr Edvardsson. Then, with the return of two other notable Keepers, Gareth Faretto and Alifer Amice, a Hearthsmoot was held a year later in 1754. Receiving high praise during the discourse surrounding the vote from both Chadmyr and Jager Faretto, the son of two previous High Keepers, Alisa was elected with three votes to Gareth’s one.

As High Keeper

During her tenure, Alisa was known for her fondness for reforms and changes- a habit which simultaneously drew praise and controversy. Over the course of her nearly ninety year reign- the longest of any High Keeper in the Faith’s history- she would regularly push for reforms and changes which she felt to be beneficial to the nation or necessary for the pursuit of her ideal ‘greater good’. Most notable among these, of course, was her advocacy for the restoration of the Kingdom of Norland, as well as her sweeping redrafting of the Kingdom’s laws and even minor restructuring of its political structure. Not all of these changes, of course, were looked upon fondly by all parties, and combined with her openness in regards to her own homosexuality, she drew a great deal of controversy and condemnation throughout her career- even, at times, culminating in assassination plots.

The Inferi War

For Alisa, the Inferi Incursion was perhaps the single most defining event of her career, both establishing her reputation beyond Norland’s borders and drastically altering her approach to her duties in the years that followed. Early in the invasion, alongside the Norlandic army and the Krug-hai, Alisa directly engaged in battle with the demonic army, though with little success to be found, going on to shortly after issue a decree ordering all followers of the Red Faith to take up arms. For much of the war, she acted as one of the primary administrators of the Norlandic effort alongside then-King Halvar Edvardsson and Marshal Donovan Freysson, and personally represented the Kingdom at the convocations of the Firewatch Alliance. Throughout the conflict, Alisa led an effort to ensure that the Norlanders were educated and prepared to effectively fight the Inferi, offering bounty rewards for research samples and information for the entire length of the war. Though she did not engage in many of the battles of the war, she did participate in the Final Battle of Korvassa, where she fought on the front line alongside King Halvar Edvardsson, Rex Murdok’Lak and the combined forces of Norland and Krugmar- the force that escorted the Spear of Brev into the Inferi Encampment. There, she not only met the Archaengul Aeriel, but witnessed the slaying of the Aengul of New Beginnings, Gazardiael, and the subsequent defeat of the Inferi.

Almaris & Death

With the migration to Almaris, Alisa began to withdraw herself from the forefront of Norlandic politics. Beginning to become more strained by her age, she instead dedicated herself to less active work than she had done in decades prior. She took this time to produce what she considered her favorite work she ever wrote, the Norlandic Code of Law, which she spent much of her time maintaining and amending over the years. She would not, however, remain withdrawn as she had hoped, as she went on to have a five-year long tenure as Regent of Norland towards the end of King Halvar’s reign, and even after that, when she intended to resign from her position as High Keeper at the age of ninety-three, she ended up returning to the position a few years later. Ultimately, she would end up remaining High Keeper until her death in 47 SA, at the age of 113, making her one of the longest-lived humans in Norlandic history

Appearance

In her youth, Alisa was known to have brown hair and blue eyes, with a fairly average appearance and a fondness for black and/or red robes and dresses. Yet, despite being a very public individual, only a handful people ever actually saw the woman’s face with any regularity, due to her fondness for the Tyrite tradition of masks- featureless masks made of porcelain and painted by their owners to reflect their personalities. Alisa was known to have added markings to her mask over the course of her career following what she considered personal victories.

Mentality

Alisa was noted for being a woman of a short temper, and a rather icy demeanor- outwardly, anyway. She was also known to be a thoughtful, intelligent individual, with a fondness for philosophy and literature. She additionally often extolled the ideals of forbearance and duty which she held to be the “greatest virtues”, and as a result, many viewed her as something of a stern, motherly figure.

Family

Alisa was the Matriarch of Clan Camian during her lifetime, which despite being a rather small family remained quite influential. She had three children and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Legacy

Alisa Camians largest legacy is that of the Inferi war, where she declared a holy war against the Inferi, often fighting on the front lines in the various battles.
