Agnar Grandaxe, (born 4th of the First Seed, 1317–Present) born as Agnar Ireheart, son of Paragon Igor Ireheart and grandson to Paragon Kjell Ireheart. He is known for his many years of service within the Legion of Urguan, and his creation of the punji-sticks that led a dwarven victory in the Siege of Kal'Ordholm. Not only this he would also be known for his placement within the Senate for many years until his leave and resignation as Clan Father of the Ireheart Clan. As well as bringing more members to the Clan and putting the Irehearts back on a step towards its former glory. In his later years, he'd return to Urguan rejoining the Legion as a Commander in order to assist in the effort in rebuilding it to its former glory. After ten years of service as Commander, Agnar would be selected by Grand King Ulfric to become the Grand Marshal of Urguan. Later on, he'd then step down from Grand Marshal returning to the position of Commander, not only this he'd later be banished from his elder clan due to a disagreement which had led him to rejoin the Grandaxe clan. Upon rejoining clan Grandaxe, Agnar would be made Clan Father of the clan.

Early life

Asulon to Vailor

Not much of Agnar Ireheart’s life was known throughout Asulon and almost half of Anthos, other than he was born to Igor Ireheart and an unknown dwarven woman in the 4th of the First Seed, 1400 though only being raised by his father.

Many years would pass since the migration towards Anthos until Agnar had really begun his life after being nothing but a shadow after the great reign of Thorin Grandaxe had ended. While growing up from a clan known for being great fighters he would find himself employed within the Legion of Urguan where he would rise through some of the ranks fighting beside his father against the Kingdom of Oren and the Antagonists. He would continue to do this for many years until the issue of Ondnarch became sudden as the Wyvern had taken hold of the old capital of Kal'Azgoth. As the issue grew larger one of his clans' man, Aldal Ireheart, would discover the relic of Da Kirkja Dverga, the Hammer of Barradin to which he became to acknowledge that only a mighty dwarven warrior must defeat Ondarch with the relic to which whoever uses the hammer would end up losing their life.

While in discussion between his fellow Legionnaires and those that sat within the Senate, Agnar would hear the news of his father who had accepted the responsibility of taking on the Wyvern. Once the day had arrived the dwarves of Urguan gathered beginning their march towards Kal'Azgoth to which would result in the defeat of Ondarch and the death of his father. Agnar being almost heartbroken would take up the passion of becoming a mighty warrior like his father to which he would begin to make ready of his rise within the legion.

During the time of landing in the lands of the Fringe, the Kingdom of Oren and Urguan had begun to have border disputes which had resulted in a declaration of war. The war would result in both sides suffering many defeats with Agnar being a part of many of those conflicts. Agnar would later be commanded by his company leader to build a large fortress wall to assist and better defend the Mouth of Urguan. Upon finishing the defenses the non-stop conflict with the Orenian armies with Urguan only winning what little they can. Agnar would be a part of the major battle in the war that resulted in a decisive victory as well as the death of King Heinrik Carrion who had fallen in the battle by a volley of arrows.

Agnar Ireheart, 1449

After years of fighting, serving, and being the one who invented the punji-sticks within the Eighteen Years' War he would later become the Clan Father of the Irehearts due to many of his people who had suddenly disappeared. As many of the members within the Ireheart clan vanished the clan became one of the weakest clans in Urguan. Agnar being known for someone not to give up he'd begin to help his clan grow larger than it was when he became Clan Father resulting them being one of the strongest clans like it once was. A few years would pass before Agnar would give up the title of Clan Father to his younger brother, Dain Ireheart, who would continue his work of growing the clan. After giving up his title he would then vanish for many years never being heard from again.

Atlas

Years would pass as the Kingdom he once served had fallen to the dwed-killers of Kaz'Ulrah he would wait for the most opportune time to make his reappearance. Though he had taken some visits to see his fellow dwed in the time of Axios of Kal'Omith he would reappear once more joining Derek Hammerfist who was declared before the destruction of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan as the heir of the last Grand King of Urguan, Frerir Irongrinder. As his new King created the Kingdom of Ord he would later become the Marshal of Ord which he'd then began to make preparations due to the tensions between Ord and Ulrah. After a few years of nothing happening within Ord, he would then vanish once more to which some within the newly formed Kingdom of Agnarum believe his return to serve with his people.

Later Life & Return to Urguan

Many years would pass until the year 1844, to which Agnar would return to his homeland and Kingdom. Upon his return, he'd reunite with his clansmen before he went on to investigate what is going on within the Grand Kingdom. During Agnar's investigation, he began to hear about how the new Grand Marshal is having a hard time returning the Legion to its former glory days. After hearing this, Agnar would speak with the Grand Marshal to which he would come across Volden Frostbeard, who was the son of Rhewen Frostbeard, an old friend of his. The two would talk for a few hours catching up as he hadn't seen Volden since he was a beardling to which had led Agnar in rejoining the Legion as Commander to assist Volden on his quest of reviving the inactive Legion of Urguan. A few months would pass where one of his sons, Bakir, would return from his mission and upon his son's return, Agnar would be repositioned as Clan Elder of the Ireheart clan once again due to some vacancy.

As Commander of the Legion (1844-1854)

After taking the position of Commander, Agnar began to start looking to bring some more activity to the Legion by hosting trainings and patrols on his own to assist the Grand Marshal in leading the military back to its former self. Though the Grand Marshal would fall into sudden inactivity and his whereabouts were unknown most of the time. To which Agnar and his some Bakir along with other officers began to attempt to keep the Legion moving forward. As the War of Wigs began, he and the other Legion officers would remain on standby as they worked on mustering and recruiting a large force for the Grand King so that they may have a successful invasion into Orenian lands.

As the War of Wigs raged on, Agnar along with many officers would lead a few minor occasions or even major like the Battle of Cape Whitcombe. Though with some victories and some defeats, the coalition remained strong. During the war, the Grand Kingdom would begin to have internal issues with Agnar's clan regarding their seeking to vassalzie a minor nation called Du Loc. The situation began to fall into drastic measures as his clan would even challenge and even chase down the Grand King with swords drawn. Upon hearing and seeing such, Agnar would remain neutral but would show disapproval in how each side acted in some situations yet more so in his clan's actions. Due to him not fully siding with his clan, his son who was the Clan Father of the clan would publicly announce a writ of banishment [1] leaving him clanless.

Before this, however, due to the Grand Marshal's inactivity and disappearance, Agnar would be made Grand Marshal of the Legion due to his centuries of experience in the Legion. It wasn't until the start of what many dwed called 'The Ireheart Situation' that he would then be officially made Grand Marshal. During his Marshalship, he led many successful battles against Orenians alongside his officers and the Coalition's Field Marshal. He would even rescue the Grand King and his councilors during the Second Storming of Kal'Darakaan. Despite many victories and some defeats, Agnar would later step down in 62 S.A leaving it to his commander, Kronk Stormheart, thusly returning to his previous role of Commander who would later lead the Kingdom into its ultimate victory over the Orenians.

Return to Commander (1859-Present)

After the war was won, Urguan had finally reached the path of peace once more. Agnar would continue his duties as Commander, hosting many trainings while working closely with Sigrun and Balor Ireheart in the Legion. As years went on one day word would reach out that Balor, a fellow Commander in the Legion, had been captured and later killed by the orcs of Krugmar. Upon the news, the Senate of Urguan would meet to which war would be declared by Urguan towards Krugmar, thus sparking the Almaris Coalition War.

During the Almaris Coalition War, Agnar would follow his duties leading the Urguani Legions with his Grand Marshal at the helm in the Raid of Daeland and the Battle of Acre. While the war raged on, Agnar would witness many of Urguan's enemy's abandon Krugmar to negotiations led by his son and Grand King, Bakir. After a few years passed, the Grand King, would be captured while on a stroll by an Orenian vassal called the Barony of Acre. Upon hearing of the news Agnar had rallied any available Legionnaires and citizens of Urguan willing to rescue the King whilst calling the banners of Urguans allies. Once Agnar and his forces united with Urguan's allies at Eastfleet they would march towards the City Gates of Vienne, the capital city of Oren. After being unable to find ways to get into the city, an emergency Senate meeting would be had where all the Senators gathered along with Urguan's allies to nominate a Regent for the Grand Kingdom whilst the Grand King was captured. During this meeting, Ragrin would cause mayhem in the Senate resulting in Agnar having to arrest his grandson until the meeting was over. The Senate meeting took two stone days to which the Senate would select Agnar's old friend, Darek Irongrinder, as Regent. Luckily, Agnar's son would be rescued from Orenian's custody which led to the eventual surrender of Krugmar and Oren.

Tenure as Grand Chancellor (1882-1901)

Agnar's portrait as Grand Chancellor of Urguan, 87 S.A.

In the year 1881(87 S.A), Aghal Frostbeard, the Grand Chancellor would state his resignation from the position. Within the following year, an election would be had between the Senators which resulted in a unanimous vote for Agnar. Upon gaining the position as Grand Chancellor, Agnar would lead many Senate meetings as well as put forth reformations. These reformations were to bring more Clan representation even for those who were unable to maintain a seat within the Senate, and also changed the Articles of how Regents are selected. As some years went on, Agnar would go rogue by meeting with the leadership of Sedan, a former Urguani vassal, on getting an alliance set up. Upon doing so, he was able to get what seemed to be a long-awaited meeting between the Grand King and the Prince of Sedan to meet. Though due to none of his fault, an alliance was still not signed at the end of it. Agnar would continue to work on building some relations with other nations for Urguan, though saw some faults while doing so due to the image Urguan has gained through many of its recent conflicts.

~The Impeachment of Bakir & Exodus Crisis~

Within the year 1889, Agnar had hosted what seemed to be a normal Senate meeting. In this meeting, Agnar had discussed topics of the possible war with Krugmar over the Jindle Bandits. As debate began, things got heated between the Grand King and Darek Irongrinder over the possibility of war. While the argument raged on, Darek would call for an impeachment of Bakir to which another would second it. Agnar as Grand Chancellor hosted and tallied the votes for the impeachment of his son and Grand King. The results would end with three yes's and four no's, upon this many of the Irehearts from the Grand King's clan had made their way towards the Senate room. As they arrived, a call for the impeachment of Falk Irongut, a supporter of Darek, would be called by the Ireheart clan, which Falk would resign before the final tally was made.

Following the Senate meeting, Norli Starbreaker and Darek held a meeting with members of the Yemekar's Workers Guild to discuss the events that had taken place. Agnar attended this meeting and addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of unity within Urguan. However, despite his words, many individuals chose to ignore Agnar's call for unity and left the halls of Urguan. Agnar remained behind, to which he'd be able to mend his own minor grudges within his former clan due to his unwavering loyalty to Urguan.

Though as time went on, and in the midst of these internal conflicts, Agnar received information that many books from the Urguani library had been stolen by dwarves from the newly established settlement of Khron'Hundmar. In response, the Grand Marshal took action and met with Darek Irongrinder to discuss the stolen books, with Agnar accompanying him. Unfortunately, the conversation did not yield positive results. Yet, undeterred, Agnar traveled to Khron'Hundmar the following day to meet with Darek and Norli. During the meeting, Agnar successfully obtained confirmation that the stolen books were indeed in their possession. Where to which he argued for the return of the books, as he sought to resolve the issue diplomatically. Yet despite the issue being resolved, the return of the books became stagnant as tensions between Hundmar and Urguan lowered immensely as the years went on.

During the middle of the year 1900, Bakir Ireheart, the Grand King called all of Urguan to the throne room of Kal'Darakaan. As this meeting took place, the Grand King would announce his abdication from the throne. Once the announcement was made, Agnar began to call for nominations of who will be declared as Lord Regent to oversee the Kingdom and the upcoming election for Grand King which had concluded towards Torvin Blackaxe to be named Regent. The following stone day, Agnar called the members of the Senate to its chambers to nominate who they wish to run for Grand King. After the meeting concluded it'd result in the nominations of three candidates; Alaric Grimgold, Sigrun Ireheart, and Agnar Grandaxe.

The coronation of Agnar Grandaxe, as the 35th Grand King of Urguan, took place on the 13th of Sun's Smile 1901 at Kal'Daraakan palace. Where he would officially take up office upon the resignation of his son, Bakir Ireheart, after winning the election for kingship. The ceremony would be done by the High Prophet, Garedyn Mossborn, and upon this coronation, it had also marked Agnar as the ninth Grandaxe to be elected and crowned as Grand King of Urguan.

Reformations & Formations

King's Council:
Once Agnar was coronated it did not take long before he started to make some changes within his personal Council. Within these changes, he'd remove the title of King's Hand whilst replacing it with the role of Grand Ambassador where he'd place fellow clansman, Dagmir Grandaxe. To which the role of Grand Ambassador brought forth great ability for Agnar along with future Grand Kings in organizing treaties, building up relations, and an insurance that treaties were followed through. Lastly, the role of Grand Marshal would later be changed with the reformation of the Obsidian Guard with the role of Grand Master of War replacing it.
Military: [8]
Four years into his reign, Agnar was able to pass a reformation of the Obsidian Guard to replace the original Grand Legion of Urguan. It was thought that it'd benefit the Kingdom to start with a fresh new military organization to build up recruitment, to then fix the stagnation within the military that had taken place within his predecessor's reign. Some Clan Leaders would try to recommend another organization to be made, yet were denied of such by Agnar. It was only until the rearrival of Durorn Ireheart, that Agnar would approve for the dissolvement of the Obsidian Guard, to which brought forth the restoration of the Grand Legion of Urguan.
Grand Council: [9]
During the time Agnar reformed the Obsidian Guard, he'd also be met with difficulties in passing reforms within the Grand Senate. Within these reforms, Agnar had sought to find a better and friendlier system to distribute votes to clans, along with ending large unions or coalitions to be formed. Yet despite the good within the reform, the already formed Ember Alliance (Hefrumm, Irongut, Doomforged, Grimgold) within the Grand Senate, had greatly opposed it as it would diminish some of their current votes. Due to this, the debates regarding the reforms took Agnar only two years to where he'd finally find a deal with the Ember Alliance which resulted in the passing of his reform. Though later within his reign he'd hoped to do more reforms regarding the Grand Council within his attempted rewrite of the Articles before his abdication.
Private Treasuries: [10]
While Agnar was a candidate for Grand King, he made a number of promises to construct a Hefrumm economy but encountered certain challenges in doing so. Within two years into his rule, Agnar had called for the establishment of a bank within the territory of Hefrumm, yet the High Chief never saw it completed. And despite these issues, Agnar thirteen years later had then approved the establishment of private treasuries to take place within the Grand Kingdom's treasury, and within these private treasuries, it had included Hefrumm having its own along with those who were vassals of the Grand Kingdom.

Diplomatic Affairs

Upon assuming the Obsidian Throne, Agnar embarked on a campaign to strengthen and expand Urguan's diplomatic ties throughout Almaris, a facet that had been neglected during the preceding decade of the previous monarch's rule. During this period, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan renewed its alliance with the Kingdom of Haense, rekindling the old partnership, and also forged a fresh alliance with the Kingdom of Balian. Furthermore, Agnar initiated numerous non-aggression pacts and established trade relationships with the Kingdom of Norland, the United Kingdom of Aaun, the Silver States of Haelun'or, and the Commonwealth of the Petra.

After three years of Agnar's diligent efforts, a strong bond was formed with the Archduke of Petra, resulting in a formal alliance between Urguan and Petra. Regrettably, not long after this union, a civil war erupted within Petra. The conflict was triggered by the discovery of an affair involving the Archduchess and a Prince of Haense. This situation placed Agnar in a precarious position, as both of his allies seemed poised to go to war against each other.

As the civil war raged on, Haense became increasingly entangled in the internal strife to the point where diplomats from the Archduke's faction were tragically killed. During this tumultuous period, rumors circulated that Haense might declare war on the Petran people should the Archduke emerge victorious. In light of his close ties with the Archduke, Agnar endeavored to unite a coalition of nations willing to issue a warning to the Kingdom of Haense, with the hope of preventing further bloodshed and preserving global peace.

Luckily, these efforts bore no fruit, as the Archduke's forces were defeated in a decisive battle known as the Battle of the Commonwealth, bringing the war to an end. Consequently, Agnar chose to dissolve his alliance with the newly appointed Archduchess, reverting back to the non-aggression pact once more.

In the later years of his reign, Agnar managed to achieve considerable success in his efforts to bolster and broaden Urguan's diplomatic ties across Almaris, despite some minor tensions with some eleven nations.
